Fans of hot and spicy Nashville-style chicken can now get their fix right in Bergen County. The popular Hot Chikn Kitchn chain is expanding nationwide, and their first New Jersey location is in Paramus. The restaurant specializes in Nashville-style chicken and also offers a variety of sandwiches, tenders, and sides.
Hot Chikn Kitchn is actually inside another existing restaurant, Urban Bricks pizza, and the two coexist side-by-side. “It’s comfortable and casual and we’re working on merging the vibe of two brands,” says Co-owner Elizabeth Prozer-Newman. “We felt like it would complement what’s already at Urban Bricks.”

A Taste of Nashville
Besides their emphasis on chicken, the restaurant offers sides such as mac and cheese. However, sandwiches are the star of the menu. For instance, the Nashville style Chikn Sandwich is made with their signature GOOD sauce; and comes with krinkle kut pickles, house fried chicken, and homestyle coleslaw on a toasted artisan potato bun. Elizabeth mentions that kids gravitate towards the chikn tendrs, which are hand-breaded and fried. They come either plain or with a sauce of choice.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth says other menu highlights include the loaded fries and Chikn and Waffles. The loaded fries include cheddar, chopped hand-breaded chicken (in sauce or country style), and a drizzle of GOOD sauce. Likewise, the Chikn and Waffles features a choice of chicken with homemade waffles topped with powdered sugar and syrup. But her favorite dish is their signature Nashville Style Chikn Sandwich. “It’s a standout especially when ordered Sleazy style with Mac and Cheese on top.”
Hot Chikn Kitchn prepares all items using made-to-order spices. On top of that, they offer a variety of hot sauces that each infuse a different type of pepper.
Coming to New Jersey
Opening the flagship New Jersey location in Paramus was a natural fit for Hot Chikn Kitchn. “We’ve lived and worked in Bergen County for many years, so we’re familiar with its fast pace and the time demands on residents,” Elizabeth says. “We chose Paramus because of its strong sense of community and the broad range of businesses, schools, and much more.”
