Nothing beats a great sandwich. Though many sandwich shops already exist in New Jersey, Subs & Co in Avenel wants to be your new go-to spot. With 50 seats and 100 parking spaces, they’ve got room for you, your friends, your family, and your coworkers.
Subs & Co boasts a modern casual vibe; the space’s open ceiling gives it a large feel with a comfortable atmosphere. But what really sets this place apart is the experience behind it. In fact, owner Marc Kaiser was previously a partner at another sub shop in Colonia for more than 10 years.
“Having built a great bond with the community and having a deep understanding of the community’s needs and preferences, I decided to build a new business and keep it in Woodbridge Township. Avenel was the perfect location to make this happen,” he says. With this in mind, Subs & Co is in the heart of the community; close to businesses, corporate areas of Rahway and Carteret, and accessible from major roads.
What You’ll Find
Sandwich offerings include cold classics like turkey, tuna, or roast beef. “Any of our classic cold subs are available toasted, which most sub shops don’t offer,” says Kaiser.
Hot options include “Caramelized Dip,” which is roast beef dipped in au jus, caramelized onions, horseradish aioli, and provolone; or “The Bleu,” sliced buffalo chicken breast topped with buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce, and tomato.
Specialty subs include turkey avocado and the Bahn Mi; the latter contains sliced chicken breast, homemade pickled veggies, cilantro and jalapenos, topped with homemade sriracha aioli. Asiago chicken is a standout as well, however, the Italian Supreme is soon to be a fan favorite. You can click here to see the full menu.
“It’s not an unusual sandwich for some sub shops,” says Kaiser. “But what makes us different is we always focus on quality. At Subs & Co, we use prosciutto di parma instead of imitation prosciuttos.”
Familiar toppings on offer at Subs & Co include lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Similarly, you can choose from sauces such as mayo, ranch, or spicy mustard. Then, your cheese choices range from Swiss and provolone to mozzarella and cheddar. Finally, they feature premium toppings like fresh cut bacon and a homemade avocado spread.
But Wait, There’s More
You’ll also find salads, soups, and kid-sized subs on the menu. Salad choices include the Santa Fe salad and Cobb salad. Catering is available, too.
In the coming months, Subs & Co plans to introduce cheesesteaks and crispy chicken sandwiches, by popular request.
Community response has been so positive they may open another shop within the next 18 months, says Kaiser.
