Get Great Polish Food at Home Made in Hackettstown

Are you a fan of kielbasa, pierogies and chrusciki? If so, you can now get Polish favorites the way your grandma makes them at Home Made in Hackettstown. This 60-seat BYOB serves authentic homemade Polish dishes and desserts, all made from scratch using their own family recipes.

The owners, Dagmara Tomporowski and her husband Marcin, immigrated to America years ago. Before long, they fell in love with the friendly, warm community of Hackettstown. But there was one thing missing—Polish cuisine. “We wanted to open this restaurant because we have a passion for cooking; and no Polish restaurants are in the area,” says Dagmara.

At Home Made, the couple serves Polish delights using their own original recipes. True to their namesake, the Home Made team is all about family. “I’m managing the kitchen, deliveries, payroll, and media,” says Dagmara. Meanwhile, her husband “maintains the equipment and the building. My sister manages the restaurant. My daughter and son are waitressing.”

Walking into the eatery, diners will notice the modern décor, boasting lots of natural wood as well as hand-made details. This is a far cry from the former frame store and computer shop that used to occupy the space.

At Home Made, dishes are fresh-to-order using natural ingredients. “Everything on the menu is made from scratch, including cakes,” Dagmara says.

The menu features an array of pan-fried or boiled pierogies, with traditional potato, cheese, and onion ones being popular. The grilled kielbasa and stuffed cabbage called golabki (with pork, beef, rice, and tomato sauce) are also a big hit. In fact, diners rave about affordable prices and large portions, even on their small-plate items. In many cases, you can share several options and still come away full. Of course, don’t forget to save room for dessert. Homemade cakes on the menu include apple pie, cheesecake, or poppy seed. They also have “angel wings,” otherwise known as Polish chrusciki. They serve this dish with berries and homemade chocolate sauce. If you can’t sit down for dinner, they also offer takeout, delivery, and catering services.

You can find Home Made at 269 Main Street in Hackettstown. To learn more, visit their website or give them a call.
