The motto at F.A.T. Pizza Kitchen in Toms River is simple. “Pizza for tonight, meals for tomorrow.” More than a pizzeria, F.A.T. (which stands for Fresh and Tasty) offers sandwiches, appetizers, desserts, and prepared meals. But the stars of the show are of course, their pizza pies.
Speaking to their motto, Co-Owner Joseph Squillaro hopes patrons will pick up a pizza and some prepared meals. “Enjoy [pizza] that evening when you order. The next day and beyond, enjoy one of our delicious, prepared meals.” According to Co-Owner Sean Squillaro, these meals are made to be microwaved for a couple minutes, then enjoyed. Pizza, Dessert, & More
Of course, the owners know there is no shortage of pizza options in Toms River and the Jersey Shore. But they feel their pizza speaks for itself. In fact, Sean’s motto is “Just taste the pizza and give us a try. You be the judge.”
Both Joseph and Sean have a hard time singling out one signature dish at F.A.T. Pizza Kitchen. However, both the F.A.T. Sicilian (mozzarella, tomato sauce, pecorino romano, basil) and Vodka Sicilian pies are crowd favorites. Another popular choice is their Drunk Grandma pie, with mozzarella, signature vodka sauce, pecorino romano, burrata, and basil.
The owners are both big fans of their Sicilian Square Pizza. But at the end of the day, sometimes they just want a classic slice of NYC Cheese pizza. The F.A.T. Pizza Kitchen version features mozzarella, tomato sauce, pecorino romano, and extra virgin olive oil.
Meanwhile, dessert options include Oreo mousse cake, tiramisu, and their unique U.F.O. The latter is chocolate gelato, zabaione, and caramelized hazelnut encased in a chocolate hardshell with rainbow sprinkles.

The family-owned restaurant relies on each family member bringing something special to the table. Joseph and Sean are first cousins that grew up together. They dreamed over the years about a business marrying the concepts of a pizzeria and prepared meals. Joseph is a former NJ restaurant owner who also has experience in the prepared meals sector. His wife, Ginger, is the creative mind of the business. Sean is a former NY pizzeria owner. His wife, Maria, is the culinary mastermind and expert pizza maker. “Maria is the creative Chef behind all the pizza choices, prepared meals and other dishes available,” Joe explains. “Without her delicious food, none of this would be possible.”
The Squillaros have no direct connection to Toms River, but rave about the town. “The people have been great, incredibly welcoming, and friendly. It has been just a joy to have landed here with our first location,” they say.
