Dixie Grace’s Boiled Peanut Co Delivers from Belleville

Most folks know about peanuts in some of their more common forms. Peanut butter, roasted, and either salted or unsalted are all readily available. But for a taste of something different, check out Dixie Grace’s Boiled Peanut Co. Owner Dixie Grace is bringing the “Edamame of the South” to Belleville and the surrounding areas.

Dixie describes boiled peanuts as neither crunchy nor sweet. “They are a shock to your senses,” she explains. Savory and rich, she says the peanuts are soft yet firm as well as salty and addictive. They’re 100% vegan, gluten-free, cholesterol free, keto and paleo friendly. “They’re unbelievably NUT-ritious,” as she puts it.

About Dixie Grace

A Black American woman and native New Yorker, Dixie Grace tasted her first boiled peanut in South Carolina. Upon returning home to New Jersey, she could not find boiled peanuts available anywhere locally. This led her to start making her own and, soon after, begin selling them in farmers markets. “The customer response is either joyful nostalgia or an awesome discovery,” she says. “Both are beautiful to witness. I caught lightning in a bottle.”

The reaction to her boiled peanuts gave Dixie the confidence to leave her engineering career and open her own business. “I quit a six-figure job to boil peanuts, and now my heart smiles,” she says. “I guess you could say this is my second act. In every picture since starting my business, I’m happy and joyful. I finally found my thing. It’s not just good, it’s very good.”
