Casa De Lobo is a Members-Only Restaurant in Jersey City

Patrons that visit Casa De Lobo in Jersey City are referred to as wolves. The waitstaff is called the wolfpack. Even Owner Cesar Alvarez’s nickname is the Wolf of Brunch Street. That’s because the restaurant’s name translates to House of a Wolf. But the theme doesn’t end with the nicknames.

The kitchen at Casa De Lobo is surrounded by wood, matching the feeling of a cabin in the forest. There are also pillars throughout the space marking where a river would be, and walls that resemble mountains. Then there’s the 20-foot-high Tree of Life that stands in the middle of the restaurant.

Hungry Like The Wolf

The food at Casa De Lobo has a Latin flair, emphasizing quality ingredients. Fan favorites include the lobster mac and cheese croquetas, a butter poached lobster with signature fondue cheese. The Pincho de Oxtails are also popular, with guava barbecue sauce and grilled sourdough. “I told the chef to get it as close to my mother’s oxtails as possible,” Cesar says. Dessert features options like the apple bomb, a cinnamon-vanilla baked apple topped with puff pastry and vanilla gelato; and the chocolate tres leches cake, (chocolate sponge cake with house-made chocolate milk, chocolate mousse, and chocolate meringue spiral).

Head Chefs Darryl Harmon and Rudy Straker are the minds behind the Casa De Lobo menu. Rudy runs Chef Rudy LLC, providing private chef services. He also owns Prime Fusion 23 in Wayne and is the author of a cookbook. Rudy graduated from Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School, then went on to become Executive Chef for Madison Square Garden. A Pro athlete chef, he also held an Executive Sous Chef position at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino.

Members Only

Cesar designed Casa De Lobo himself and completely renovated it. There are no TVs inside, and drapes black out the streets. “You’ll have no distractions. You’re blocked from the world outside while you’re inside dining,” Cesar says. As for the vibe, the restaurant plays tunes from the 90s and 2000s.

Casa De Lobo offers two levels of membership. The first level is an Exclusive Invitational Membership which requires some screening from the staff. Meanwhile, the VIP membership unlocks access to exclusive events like celebrity/influencer events, members only events, and priority tables. “We wanted to create an exclusive experience with this restaurant,” Cesar says. “We wanted to create a space for like-minded individuals like entrepreneurs, visionaries, and people with positive energy.”
