Broadacres Beastro in Bloomfield has Food For Everyone

Most people wouldn’t think to visit a corporate office building for lunch. But that’s because they haven’t heard of Broadacres Beastro in Bloomfield. The spot mainly serves takeout, with a current focus on brunch and lunch options. However, it aims to be more than just scoop-and-go food.

Despite the setting, “We keep the vibe as relaxed and creative as we can,” says Chef John Thomas. Broadacres Beastro is owned by Chef John and the Caporuscio Brothers of A and S Italian Market in Wyckoff. “We are inside of a corporate building, so it does have the body of it. But the decor and feel are different. We have cozy, vintage pictures.”

A Broad(acres) Menu

Broadacres Beastro features brunch and lunch, with future plans to extend the menu. “We have a little of everything for everyone; from our Samosa style empanada to Peruvian Lomo noodle bowl to our crazy sandwiches,” Chef John says. “I appreciate the flavors of the world, so we are definitely incorporating that together.”

In particular, their biggest seller – and the Chef’s favorite item – is the Italian Firecracker (seen above). This sandwich offers crispy fried chicken, spicy marinara, fresh mozzarella from A and S, and charred broccoli rabe; all on an herb butter seeded hero. Their burgers, made with prime beef, are also a big hit. Other popular picks are the Greek chicken sandwich and Beastro Burrito.

Broadacres Beastro is no slouch when it comes to vegetarian items, either. They offer options such as falafel with tzatziki, lettuce, and pickled red onions; in addition to a mushroom noodle bowl with roasted mushrooms, grape tomatoes, snap peas, and mushroom consommé. Likewise, their gluten-free choices are hand-selected and made fresh by the gluten-free bakery, Plum, in Montclair.

About the Business

Chef John has a clear vision of what he wants Broadacres Beastro to be. “I want to create a place that is comfortable but out of the ordinary. A place where you can get almost every meal, pop up meals, and caterings that are more than just the standards,” he says. It’s also important to note his family-owned company is a judgment-free zone. “We are looking to make a statement. We welcome anyone and everyone to come and see what all the fuss is about.”

But above all, Chef John started Broadacres Beastro for his four kids. “I want a place for them to understand hard work and dedication,” he explains. Meanwhile, the business is also made with food industry veterans in mind. “I want to create a place where cooks can come and be true to what they love. Every voice is heard. I created a company for line chefs, because that’s who I am and that’s who I care about.”
