All’ Assassina in Union Introduces Lunchtime Summer Menu

During the summer, many people alter their diet to replace heavier pasta and meat dishes with lighter, healthier fare. That’s why All’ Assassina, The “Killer Pasta Project” in Union, is introducing a summer menu focusing on lighter, affordable lunch specials.

Customers can enjoy a curated selection of paninis, signature salads, and pasta dishes for under $20. “They’re based on substance and quality,” says Marinos Stratigakis, owner of All’ Assassina and the nearby Souvlaqueria. All’ Assassina offers full service, high-end, authentic Italian food in a fast casual setting.

Limited Time Summer Menu

The summer lunch menu runs from May 28 through September 1, Monday to Friday, from Noon to 3:00 pm. However, if the menu proves to be a hit, Marinos plans to extend the menu through the end of the year. “Our aim with these summertime lunch specials is to provide customers with lighter, but still authentic Italian options.”

All’ Assasina’s summer lunch menu includes six authentic Italian panini sandwiches. They serve all paninis with truffle-Parmesan cheese French fries or pasta salad. Paninis feature Italian cured meats and cheeses, like stracciatella, burrata, crema di parmigiano, salami milano, mortadella, and prosciutto cotto. Each panini features toppings like fire-roasted grape tomatoes, caramelized onions, and grilled mushrooms. Finally, they’re finished with signature spreads like truffle honey mustard, basil pesto mayo, and roasted pistachio butter.

Marinos says his favorite panini is the panino con mortadella. It’s made with freshly sliced Italian mortadella, smoked Provolone, tomatoes, red onions, arugula, and homemade pesto mayo on toasted ciabatta. “When you have this panini with the truffle fries, it’s like an Italian explosion of flavors taking place. You realize you weren’t just hungry; your mouth was lonely,” he says.

Killer Pasta Dishes

The lunch menu also offers six signature pasta dishes like Bolognese or pancetta alla vodka at $14 a plate. One clear standout from the pasta menu is their spaghetti All’Assassin, a staple recipe from Bari, Italy. It’s something very few places in New Jersey serve. Likewise, All’ Assassina is one of the state’s only spots to enjoy pasta alla ruota. This is spaghetti or linguine tossed inside a wheel of parmesan cheese. They also serve gluten-free spaghetti and penne daily.

As for salads, popular picks include the insalata mista and grilled chicken Caesar salad for under $14.

Besides the summer lunch menu, All’ Assassina creates weekend specials known as the “Hit Job of the Week”. These specials feature exotic ingredients like lobster, octopus, and wild boar. “They give us the opportunity to showcase traditional and authentic recipes that people haven’t seen before in America,” Marinos says.
