The weather is getting colder, which means fewer golfers are hitting outdoor courses; in an effort to stay sharp, many are instead scheduling tee times at virtual golf arenas. Though it has been difficult in the past to find high quality simulators in the New Jersey area, that is changing quickly with the opening of such places as The Clubhouse, located in Essex County’s Fairfield.
The Clubhouse opened its doors two weeks ago, quickly becoming a hot spot for golfers of all skill levels. State-of-the-art equipment, accommodating features and professional staff boost the virtual golfing experience to new levels.
A Tour of The Clubhouse
The Clubhouse encompasses six golf simulator bays, which all feature TrackMan4 and E6 technology on a 15-foot-wide, high-definition impact hitting screen. The software, which is also often used by professional golfers, provides users with the most realistic indoor golfing experiences available.
Each simulator bay can accommodate up to four golfers, making it easy to encourage a few friends to come along; the bay provides 18 holes across 30+ popular courses. The Clubhouse allows guests to either bring their own food and drinks or order in; of course, you can also grab some snacks from the on-site “Halfway House” if you want. While waiting to play, golfers have two options. One, they can take some practice putts on the facility’s 750-square-foot putting green; or two, they can watch some sports on their simulator bay’s flat-screen television. There is also a lounge area with a 150-inch projection screen where guests can catch a game and relax.
The Clubhouse is a prime location for both casual and frequent golfers to hang out with friends and golf. While it’s easy to spend a few hours golfing on the realistic virtual courses, the venue also offers several games that guests won’t find on any outdoor course.
“We have three demolition driving range games where there are targets out on the range, and if you hit them, they explode and you get points,” says co-owner and PGA Professional, Chris Kowalczyk. “So it’s fun for anybody.”
For those with birthdays or special occasions coming up, The Clubhouse is a perfect destination to host the celebration. Guests can rent out individual simulator bays, or the entire facility, for any occasion. For example, parents can rent out a simulator bay as a fun video game party for their kids, while they rent out a separate one to golf.
Swing By Soon
The Clubhouse is an inviting and dynamic environment for golfers of all skill levels to come out and enjoy themselves. Even those who aren’t familiar with the sport can have a great time learning the ins and outs of one of the country’s most intricate pastimes.
“I love this as a learning environment for someone who has never played before because it is much less intimidating than the golf course,” Kowalczyk explains. “Here, if you hit a bad shot, you can just hit ‘Mulligan’ on the screen and try again. You don’t have to go chase your ball or look for it in the woods, you don’t need to do anything like that. It’s just somewhere you can kind of mess around and hit balls into a screen and have fun with your friends.”
