The Best Baseball Camps for NJ Kids

Batter up! Summer is in the air and that of course means it’s baseball season. While your child’s recreation baseball season may have ended, consider taking advantage of one of the state’s many baseball camps. We’ve put together a list of some great New Jersey baseball camps where your little slugger can hone his hitting, fielding and pitching skills.

Bullpen Baseball & Sports Academy

Address: 712 Ginesi Drive, Morganville
Details: Players are coached by a staff of professional instructors, current college players and high school players. The academy believes younger players need professional coaches to help them work on proper technique. The college and high school players, who are closer to the camper’s age, serve as motivational role models. Morning camp hours break kids into groups for games. Campers also work 1-on-1 with instructors on specific areas they want to excel at such as hitting, catching, pitching, infield or outfield play. After lunch, campers play baseball games, along with other sports like football, basketball and soccer.

CK’s Baseball 4U

Address: 210 Commercial Court, Morganville
Details: This state-of-the art indoor training facility boasts a major-league size infield, AstroTurf playing surface, nine retractable batting cages, a weight room and more. Camp options include mornings, afternoons, or full days. Sign up for Pee Wee Players for 3 year olds; Little Sluggers for 4 to 5 year olds; All Skills for 6 to 11 year olds; and Pitching, Hitting, Fielding and Catching clinics for 8 to 14 year olds. Kids have fun while learning and developing batting techniques and mechanics. They’ll learn about pitching positions and fielding situations, as well as proper sliding skills and hand-eye coordination for catching.

Condon’s Baseball

Address: Marucci Park, 3rd Avenue & South Boulevard, Spring Lake
Details: Back for its eighth year, this camp (geared for 7 to 12 year olds) is held from July 10 to July 13 at Marucci Park. At the all-skills camp, they teach sluggers the fundamentals of every position on the field. The camp focuses on every player’s needs in a fun, positive setting. In particular, they instruct kids on the essentials and techniques necessary for success at any level. Each camper is given the opportunity to improve on strengths and weaknesses both offensively and defensively.

Frozen Ropes

Address: 60 Milltown Road, Union
Details: Frozen Ropes believes practicing with other players improves social skills and promotes friendly competition. Players learn from watching each other and copying the movement patterns of other nearby players. They group children 5 to 12 years old by age at their indoor camp, giving professional instruction with a low student-teacher ratio. Sign up for morning, afternoon or full-day sessions. Both weekly and daily rates are available.

Kenney’s All-Shore Baseball Academy

Address: Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft
Details: The academy features five weeks of baseball camp, with each week focusing on a different area. An all-skills camp, offered for two weeks in July, is a full-day camp with instruction on base running, form throwing, defensive skills and team play. Campers learn from Christian Brothers Academy baseball staff, as well as other local high school baseball coaches.

Professional Baseball Instruction

Details: Professional Baseball Instruction boasts an air-conditioned 30,000-square-foot indoor facility with a full-sized infield, batting cages and two 70-foot tunnels for use by pitchers and hitters. The facility uses state-of-the-art tech to duplicate the sights, sounds, and angles of an actual baseball field. Plus, they can move their portable mounds and bases according to age and level of play. Both full and half day camps are available throughout the summer. The programs feature hitting and base running, fielding and throwing, and pitching and catching.

Yankees Baseball Summer Camps

Address: Offered at various New Jersey locations
Details: These summer camps include four days of baseball instruction and competition. The fifth day is all about visiting Yankee Stadium where players meet a current or former Yankees player and get a behind-the-scenes tour. Camps accommodate players at all levels of ability and experience, with children between rising kindergartners and rising eighth graders welcome to attend. Campers separate into divisions by grade level. The curriculum focuses on baseball-specific skills, as well as leadership and character building, to promote success both on and off the baseball field.

Zoned Sports Academy

Address: Basking Ridge & Somerset
Details: This spot offers outdoor camps for ages 6-12 at two Central New Jersey locations. These camps are great for beginner, intermediate, or skill players. All children receive professional instruction in hitting (including stance, balance, mechanics, situational hitting and swing path), fielding (including infield and outfield mechanics), pitching and more. Those skills are put to the test with daily scrimmage games that help every player reach his goals.
