About the Owners

While working closely at a sports medicine facility in New York City in the late 1980s, Excel Orthopedic founders and co-owners Matt Gibble, PT and Gary Flink envisioned opening a New Jersey-based practice that would set the standards in orthopedic physical therapy for everyone from school age children to geriatrics.

In March of 1990, that vision came to life while opening the doors to their Fort Lee office. Of course, now they have fourteen offices throughout Bergen, Hudson, Union, and Essex counties. From sprains and strains to the most complex surgical cases, Excel takes pride in being the go-to source for treatment. Today, after nearly 30 years, Excel remains the most trusted source for rehab in NJ by patients and physicians alike.

Excel Orthopedic Physical Therapy offers three distinct specialty programs: Hip, Spine, and Concussion. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of their many services.

Hip Help

The hip specialists at Excel pursue rigorous continuing education, including attaining credentials as Advanced Hip Clinicians. In addition, they work with some of the best local physicians, surgeons, and rehab experts; as a group, they host seminars to discuss new procedures, cutting edge techniques, and emerging rehab protocols and practices.

Their Hip Specialty Program also acts as an in-house think tank tackling difficult or complex cases; ensuring that every patient receives the benefit of the best Excel has to offer.

Spine Services

The spine specialists at Excel Orthopedic endure a rigorous track of continuing education; including earning a certification in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment and as Spinal Manual Therapists. But they also work with leading local doctors, surgeons, and rehab experts to host similar workshops to the Hip team. Similarly, these talks help the team create and perfect new techniques and understand new protocols.

When dealing with a particularly complex case, the Spine Specialty Program provides a venue for group discussion; which allows each patient to receive the best care.

Aiding Athletes

As one of the most trusted names in physical therapy, Excel Orthopedic is where pro athletes go for treatment. In fact, the list of pro players they help ranges from football and hockey to basketball and baseball. In particular, a few athletes they have helped include Gary Sheffield, Kevin Boss, and Martin Brodeur.
