Established in 1912, the Knife and Fork Inn, one of the oldest and most historically charged establishments in Atlantic City, was originally established as an exclusive men’s drinking and dining club. After a short stint as a Depression-Era restaurant, the Knife and Fork continued to attract wealthy and influential diners such as Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, and Vic Damone.

Under the guidance of Frank Dougherty, owner of the successful Dock’s Oyster House, this seafood restaurant in Atlantic County was renovated in 2005. Knife and Fork Inn is now a celebrated landmark. Not just known for seafood, Knife and Fork was also awarded Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence in 2018.

You won’t be disappointed by the food when you visit the Knife and Fork Inn. Appetizers include Lobster Spring Roll, Crispy Duck Leg, or Crab, Artichoke, and Spinach Dip, served with homemade tortilla chips. If you’re hungry for some of the Inn’s famously fresh seafood, try the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail or the raw bar.

When it comes to entrees, there are plenty to choose from, including whole lobster, seafood risotto, crab cake, four-spice tuna or pan-sautéed flounder. You can also select from the restaurant’s magnificent cuts of meat. The options include sirloin steaks, ribeye filets, veal chops, racks of lamb, and braised short ribs. When you’re ready for dessert, try a Banana Chocolate Burrito, Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle or Strawberry Cream Shortcake.

If any of your guests have dietary restrictions or preferences, the chefs at the Knife and Fork Inn are happy to make accommodations.

Vintage Appeal

The dramatic exterior of the Knife and Fork Inn features Old-World European architecture. It is reminiscent of a quaint old-time pub or countryside inn. Once you walk through its doors, you’ll notice the mingling of old-fashioned charm, vintage appeal, and modern convenience. The main dining room offers fabulous architecture, beautiful windows, rich furnishings, and a full bar. Each room has a different theme, some historical, some functional, but all impressive.

Knife and Fork Inn offers up five different rooms for private parties, each with a different capacity for both seating and cocktail service. In a famous scene from the movie “Atlantic City,” Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon dined in the restaurant’s popular porch, now known as the Terrace.
