About Zeppoli Restaurant
Open since 2011, Zeppoli is a small romantic and very intimate 35-seat BYOB restaurant located in Collingswood, NJ. The restaurant serves classic yet very simple, Italian cuisine with a strong focus on Sicilian. Combining New and Old World traditions, guests can choose from homemade/imported pastas as well as grilled or roasted meats; of course, they also serve fish and housemade desserts and Gelati.
The name “Zeppoli” or Zeppole refers to “fried dough.” These fried dough balls can either be savory or sweet. These small Italian doughnuts are either tossed in cinnamon/sugar, rolled with honey, or filled with fresh ricotta.
In the presence of old black and white photos of Sicily and dark wooden walls, guests can relax at Zeppoli.
About the Chef
Joseph Baldino, Chef/Owner of Zeppoli restaurant, is no stranger to great food; in fact, he credits his mother and his two aunts as his earliest culinary mentors. In addition, the restaurant business has also been a part of his life for many years. While working his way up the restaurant ladder, he sought degrees from both Temple University and The French Culinary Institute; afterward, he took a role as Chef de Cusine at Vetri Ristorante.
Through his extensive experience working for some of Philadelphia’s most notable chefs, he as able to open Zeppoli. The restaurant combines the simplicity of good ingredients with careful preparation, a primary focus in his culinary vision.
