Passaic County residents who love traditional slow-cooked ramen are in luck. JINYA Ramen Bar is a rapidly growing chain of restaurants throughout the nation. Totowa marks their first location in New Jersey. The 4,000-square-foot space boasts a sleek interior that can seat Nearly 150 guests.

“Much of the restaurant decor is inspired by traditional Japanese design elements to create an elegant and elevated, but authentic Japanese dining experience,” says Tim Doherty. He is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Doherty Enterprises. His group owns and operates more than 160 restaurants across New Jersey and New York. An Authentic Japanese Ramen Experience

Ramen enthusiasts know that the noodles are only a part of what makes the dish so delicious. For instance, the broth is a key component that can drastically change the experience. At JINYA Ramen Bar, guests can “Experience broth like it’s meant to be,” according to Tim. They simmer their broth in house using FIJI Water for 20 hours, which makes it thick and rich.

Current menu favorites include the crispy chicken bowl, with fried chicken thigh in an original garlic pepper served with mixed baby greens and Jinya’s original ponzu sauce. Fans also love the brussels sprouts tempura, and spicy chicken ramen. The latter includes thin noodles in chicken broth, with chicken chashu, spinach, spicy bean sprouts, and green onion. Popular toppings include pork chashu, shrimp wontons, fresh garlic, and seasoned poached eggs.

“Jinya is ramen culture, where the relationship between broth and noodles are a serious but delicious business,” Tim says. Besides their namesake, JINYA Ramen Bar also serves salads, small plates, mini tacos, rice bowls, curries, and desserts.

A Perfect Pairing

Other liquors include whiskey, vodka, gin, and sake from brands like Suntory, Joto craft sakes, and Mars Whiskey. In addition to Japanese beers, the restaurant serves craft beers from local New Jersey breweries.
