Today in NJ, 2016: Baseball Fans Day
August 12, 2016, is Baseball Fans Day. Baseball gets its name from the four bases around the pitcher’s mound. Games involving a stick and ball have been around since ancient Egypt, but modern baseball was created from variations of the English game of rounders, regional and local games and children’s games.
It is thought that the first modern game of baseball was played by the Knickerbockers in 1845 in Hoboken, NJ. Celebrate Baseball Fans Day by visiting one of the stadiums listed below.

The Somerset Patriots play at the TD Bank Stadium in Bridgewater. The ticket office and team store hours on non -game days are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
