Today in NJ, 2016: Kindergarten Day

April 21, 2016 is Kindergarten Day. This day was created to honor Friedrich Froebel, a German man who started the first Kindergarten in 1837, an idea which quickly became very popular. Originally, kindergartens were a half-day program for children to get acclimated to learning, socializing, and the idea of school while having fun.

In most areas during the modern day, kindergarten has evolved into a full time program. To celebrate Kindergarten Day, and the idea of lettings kids have fun, visit one of the recreational areas listed below.

Delaware River Railroad Attractions in Phillipsburg offers train rides along the Delaware river plus themed excursions including an Easter Bunny adventure, A Day Out With Thomas, The Polar Express, and more.
