New Jersey is home to many amazing bakeries, offering delicious cakes, pies, cookies and pastries. But if your child is allergic to nuts, it can often be difficult to find a safe place to purchase baked goods. We’ve rounded up our picks for the best nut-free bakeries in the state. These locations feature lots of yummy options for your child to enjoy on a special occasion or any day of the week.

Butterflake Bakery

nut-free bakeries, bakeries

Location: 448 Cedar Lane, Teaneck
Details: This neighborhood staple promises that no tree nuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts and peanut oil are used in the production of its baked goods. (A heads up: They admit they can’t certify that ingredients purchased aren’t processed in a place which might process nut products). Stop in to sample tasty pastries, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and more. You’ll also find scrumptious pies and tortes made with fresh fruits and fillings.
Why I like it: Not only is Butterflake Bakery nut-free, it’s kosher, too. Try the award-winning authentic challahs available in many different shapes and sizes.

Location: 55 White Road, Shrewsbury
Details: Liv Nut Free is a peanut and tree nut-free online and in-store bakery, where everything is baked from scratch and in small batches. The store is the brainchild of nineteen-year-old Olivia Moglino, who wanted people with nut allergies (like herself) to feel safe when picking up a dessert. Made-to-order cupcakes, cakes, cookies and brownies are customized to your liking, whether you need Elsa birthday cupcakes or a five-tier wedding cake.
Why I like it: Also available to purchase online are Moglino’s own nut-free brownie and cake mixes, so you can confidently bake safe treats in your own home.
