New Jersey is home to many amazing bakeries, offering delicious cakes, pies, cookies and pastries. But if your child is allergic to nuts, it can often be difficult to find a safe place to purchase baked goods. We’ve rounded up our picks for the best nut-free bakeries in the state. These locations feature lots of yummy options for your child to enjoy on a special occasion or any day of the week.
Location: 448 Cedar Lane, Teaneck
Details: This neighborhood staple promises that no tree nuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts and peanut oil are used in the production of its baked goods. (A heads up: Some ingredients may be processed near nut products). Stop in to sample tasty pastries, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and more. You’ll also find scrumptious pies and tortes made with fresh fruits and fillings.
Why I like it: Not only is Butterflake Bakery nut-free, it’s kosher, too. Try the award-winning authentic challahs available in many different shapes and sizes.
More info: Visit www.butterflake.com or call 201-836-3516.
Location: 125 Paris Avenue, Northvale
Details: Grandma’s Kitchen has been a tree nut and peanut-free facility for more than 20 years. No soy, seeds or seed oil are used when baking products. Mouth-watering cakes are made to order for your special occasion, all while being allergy friendly. Looking for a fun birthday party option for your child? Celebrate at Grandma’s Kitchen! Several fabulous party packages are available, including the Cake Wars Challenge, where partygoers show off their cupcake, cake or fondant cake skills.
Why I like it: Gluten, dairy and egg-free options are available upon request, as are vegan creations.

The Little Daisy Bake Shop
Location: 622 Valley Road, Montclair

Baked goods are made with quality ingredients such as real butter, eggs, sugar and buttermilk, giving you a genuine homemade taste. Stop in anytime to enjoy fresh coffee, delicious scones and yummy seasonal breads.
Why I like it: New at the store is the option to ship a care package full of nut-free goodies to a loved one, near or far.

Sweet & Flour
Location: 300 Front Street, Secaucus
Details: Sweet & Flour specializes in custom cakes, cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and other desserts. Although the facility is nut-free, they can’t guarantee all ingredients come from a nut-free environment. They’ll deliver their treats throughout the state and ship their cake pops and cookies. The shop also offers baking classes for kids and small birthday parties after hours. Hosting a larger event for your child? Sweet & Flour will happily bring the party to your home.
Why I like it: There’s more than just sweets here – if savory’s your thing, try the danishes and a hot cup of French pressed coffee.

Liv Nut Free
Location: 55 White Road, Shrewsbury
Details: Liv Nut Free is a peanut and tree nut-free online and in-store bakery, where everything is baked from scratch and in small batches. The store is the brainchild of nineteen-year-old Olivia Moglino, who wanted people with nut allergies (like herself) to feel safe when picking up a dessert. They make custom cupcakes, cakes, cookies and brownies by request, whether you need Elsa birthday cupcakes or a five-tier wedding cake.
Why I like it: Also available to purchase online are Moglino’s own nut-free brownie and cake mixes, so you can confidently bake safe treats in your own home.
More info: Visit www.livnutfree.com or call 800-913-7913.
Location: 106 Main Street, Matawan
Details: Papa Ganache is not a certified nut-free establishment, but it can make nut-free treats by request. The bakery is, however, vegan and gluten-free. On the menu are sticky buns, baby cakes, cupcakes, birthday cakes and more. They bake all items in small batches on-premises, using mostly organic ingredients.
Why I like it: They make all products heart-healthy; in other words, cholesterol-free, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils and no high fructose corn syrup.
More info: Visit www.papaganache.com or call 732-217-1750.
Sweet T’s Bakeshop
Location: 14 Kings Court, Haddonfield
Details: While Sweet T’s is NOT a certified nut-free bakery, it will accommodate nut allergies (or dairy, egg and soy sensitivities) upon request. The store is a gluten-free bakery by trade, with cakes, cupcakes, scones, pies and macarons available daily. There’s also a full barista menu if you want to sit and enjoy an espresso with your dessert. If you’re looking for a bakery to create a special nut-free treat, contact owners (and sisters!) Toni and Chrissy Walton to see how they can help.
Why I like it: Toni Walton learned from the best – she worked for Cake Boss Buddy Valastro at his Hoboken bakery for a year and appeared on seasons 1 and 2 of the show!
