Shopping for a prom dress or wedding gown can be a memorable experience. Now, thanks to Castle Couture of Manalapan’s major expansion, the experience just got even better! “We don’t just dress our customers, we style them,” Colleen Giresi, general manager and buyer for Castle Couture, told Best of NJ. As ‘the Castle’ tells clients, they are the store’s walking advertisement, so wearing gowns from Castle Couture to events can only bring more customers.
With this philosophy in mind, Castle Couture grew to the point owner Maurice Payami saw the need for more space. “He knew we were outgrowing the old building of 25,000 square feet, so he decided to liquidate the fine jewelry business, to give us more room, for a total of about 50,000 square feet,” said Giresi.
The upcoming expansion will allow the Castle to build 15 additional dressing rooms to accommodate the influx of prom and evening wear customers. “We have a very busy prom season ahead, and a small window of opportunity to serve our clients,” she said. Prom season typically lasts from January through April, but Giresi said it can start as early as December.
The extra space will help the Castle assist clients quickly and efficiently, so that gown shopping is a pleasant experience, with less aggravation.
Giresi said Castle Couture is the largest prom retailer in the Northeast, and the third largest in the country. People come from states as far away as Virginia and Maryland, and from countries such as Canada and Brazil, to shop at the Castle.
In addition to utilizing the new space for more dressing rooms, Castle Couture is buying more prom dresses than ever before for Prom 2018. The store will soon accommodate even more popular designers for prom, such as Sherri Hill, Jovani, Alyce Paris and Tarik Ediz.
“The look is a little more sophisticated,” said Giresi. Girls are asking for a red carpet-inspired look. Bugle beads, popular in the 80s, are back. And shades of green, from hunter to emerald, are big this year. Blush pink and ice blue remain popular as well. Novelty fabrics are another big trend; think embroidered flowers and 3-dimensional details.
With the couture designers the store offers for evening and bridal, Castle Couture creates something unique for New Jersey, a premium gown shopping experience that doesn’t require going into the city, said Giresi. “Pairing the selection of designer gowns with our customer service, it is here at the Castle that we pride ourselves on taking care of every body type and every budget,” she asserted.
