The popular pizzeria and restaurant, Uncle Louie’s Pizza, opened its first location in Franklin Lakes in 2014. But as of February 2020, their second location in Montvale is now open. You’ll find them in the spot previously occupied by Momma’s Kitchen, which closed in early February after six years.
“We opened a second location because we feel that our product is a cut above the rest,” says David Brancato; David owns Uncle Louie’s and has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry. As for why he chose Montvale in particular, he says that “Montvale has high-end Italian places. Montvale has pizzerias. But it does not have the in between that we are.” Moreover, Uncle Louie’s is “the place that you can get the best of the best for a reasonable price.”
David describes the restaurant’s ambiance as casual and comfortable; in fact, the about 4,000-square foot spot can seat more than 100 diners. (They currently don’t offer outdoor dining.) “We have a rustic look that makes you feel like you are at home,” he says.

Find Italian Favorites at Uncle Louie’s Pizza
At Uncle Louie’s Pizza, you’ll find a signature twist on classic dishes. For instance, the Meatballs Romano appetizer includes three homemade meatballs with a dollop of creamy ricotta cheese. Then there’s Uncle Louie’s Antipasto; this tossed salad is topped with prosciutto, salami, and provolone cheese, with extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, and spices. Of course, you’ll also find a variety of pasta entrees.
“We don’t skimp on anything. We make our own dough and have recipes from over 40 years ago,” David explains. “It says Uncle Louie’s Pizza, but our dinners are made with the highest quality ingredients and not at the prices of the white table cloth places.”
As for the pizza itself, fan favorites include the Grandma Pie (which is actually made using his Grandma’s special recipe); it’s an extra thin crust pan pizza with mozzarella and spots of a flavorful herbed San Marzano tomato sauce. The margarita pie, a light and airy pizza made with fresh mozzarella and imported tomato sauce, is also popular.
