Sea-Lect Seafood

For more than 40 years, Sea-Lect Seafood has been serving the people of Maple Shade in New Jersey, as well as visitors from near and far. As the name suggests, Sea-Lect Seafood is very selective about the fish and other seafood that they incorporate into their dishes. They use fresh, wild-caught fish and seafood that has been sustainably farm-raised.

During the years of 2011, 2012, and 2013, the restaurant was voted one of the best in South Jersey, thanks to the quality of the ingredients, the tastiness of the food and the attentive service.

BestofNJ-com Client's Website ButtonThe current owner of Sea-Lect Seafood, George Gladden started out as a dishwasher at the restaurant. After graduating from high school, he began taking on more responsibilities at Sea-Lect Seafood and its associated store, including the cooking and management. In 2005, when the former owner retired, George Gladden and his wife bought the restaurant and store. Their dedication to the place shines through every aspect of the business, from the inviting sea-themed decor to the premium quality of the food.

Appetizers at the restaurant include seafood favorites like Littleneck Clams steamed or on the half shell, oysters on the half shell, or Topneck Clams on the half shell. You can also try the jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon or the large bacon-wrapped sea scallops. A large shrimp cocktail is the perfect starter to share, while Clams Casino and crab-stuffed mushrooms are a treat as well. Popcorn shrimp, fried calamari rings and sauteed mussels from Prince Edward Island round out the first course.

Sea-lect Seafood is famous for its broad selection of homemade soups. Every day, the restaurant serves up six or more different chowders and soups, each one a unique delight. Try the Manhattan Clam Chowder, New England Clam Chowder, Crab Tomato Bisque, Spicy Crab Soup or Creamy Asparagus and Crab soup.

If you are really craving some seafood, one of the broiled or fried seafood platters might hit the spot. Sea-Lect Seafood also serves around 10 different pasta dishes, topped with sauteed seafood. Most of the entrees come with a side item or two. You can choose from French fries, potato wedges, sweet potato fries, onion rings, vegetables, baked potatoes, cole slaw and other options. Don’t forget to add on a serving of the house’s homemade cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Sea-Lect Seafood does not serve dessert, but after you stuff yourself with delicious seafood, you won’t miss it.
