The Jersey City Medical Center, part of the RWJ Barnabas Health Network, is located on a 15-acre campus overlooking the New York Harbor and Liberty State Park. The Medical Center presently includes three facilities; the Wilzig Hospital, the Provident Bank Ambulatory Center and the medical office building. The hospital serves as a regional referral teaching hospital and provides the highest level of care for women and infants, trauma and cardiac patients.
Inside our spacious facility, natural light bathes patient rooms and the Statue of Liberty gleams outside the window. Patients are surrounded by the best and brightest medical professionals using the latest technologies to provide state-of-the-art service and compassion.
There are nearly 6,000 hospitals in the United States; out of all of them, only 401 currently have the Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence. Jersey City Medical Center is the only one in all of Hudson, Union or Essex Counties to earn this distinction. Jersey City Medical Center has not only achieved Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence, but also nine consecutive “A” national safety ratings from the Leapfrog Group.
The Center is also a teaching affiliate and member of America’s Essential Hospitals. Their mission is to improve the health of area residents through health care programs and services, and to offer them with compassion and dignity. Jersey City Medical Center stands as Hudson County’s largest provider of healthcare services, with more than 18,000 admissions and over 80,000 emergency room visits each year.
