It’s always worth celebrating when a local small business hits a milestone of any kind. For Toy Utopia in Red Bank, 2025 marks their 3-year anniversary in town. To show their appreciation, owners Mira and Bruce Brach are holding a birthday bash event alongside the launch of a fundraising campaign to support a local hospital.
The birthday bash takes place on Saturday, June 28 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ten percent of proceeds earned during the day will go to Tackle Kids Cancer; an initiative which raises funds for pediatric cancer research and patient care programs for patients and their families. The program specifically aids kids receiving care at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Besides the fundraiser, families can enjoy face painting, story time with local authors, games, popcorn, a drawing contest, and more.

A Haven For Toy Collectors
Toy Utopia offers toys and games at all price points. Fun and creative options include classic toys, antique toys, cars and trucks, building sets, and outdoor games. Educational options include art kits, activity sets, books, sensory toys, board games, and puzzles. Their more imaginative options feature stuffed animals, action figures, baby dolls, doll houses, and costumes. “Some kids have never been to a toy store,” says Mira. “We love the excitement and pure joy on children’s faces when they walk into our store and are able to explore and pick out their favorite toys.”
The store also stocks popular brands like Gund, Hape, Hasbro, Mattel, Corolle, LEGO, and more. But the Brach family particularly prides themselves on offering brands patrons will love even if they’ve never heard of them. For example, Djeco, a French company known for designing high quality art kits and activity sets. “We offer more unique and hard-to-find-toys than a big box retailer,” Mira says.

“Our goal is to have something different and not have something everyone else has,” Bruce adds. This means offering brands from Australia, Poland, Canada, Ukraine, Israel, and Great Britain. They also offer complimentary wrapping.
The Family Behind Toy Utopia
Mira is a part-time nurse at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She has also worked as a teacher and in medical research. But she wanted to find another way to improve children’s lives. She knows toys can spread joy, and her husband Bruce actually collects old toys, especially cars, trucks, and matchboxes.
After retiring from his landscaping business, he was looking for new opportunities. Together, they realized that a toy store was a good fit for them. Mira could apply her education, research, and nursing background, while Bruce could indulge his passion for toys along with his business experience and humor.

Toy Utopia is meant to be a magical and happy place, one that sparks interest, curiosity, imagination, and creativity. Mira and Bruce run the store with help from their children, Sophia and Steven.
Looking ahead, they plan to expand their hobby section and add new product lines. They also want to host building classes during the fall, sell their toys online, and offer local delivery.
