She’s the sole owner and also lives in town. “Our ever-changing foyer is usually filled with lots of plants, perfect for a photo op. We love changing our decor based on the season.”

The salon is particularly proud of its inclusivity efforts. “All year round, our front window has a giant rainbow on it that can basically be seen from across town,” Marisa says. “Being an inclusive space, we want to make sure everyone feels welcome and ‘at home’ in Rebel.”
Popular services at Rebel Hair Studio include steam treatments, extensions, fantasy color, and color transformations/corrections. The entire staff has extensive training, because both stylists and their apprentices receive thorough education. Apprentices are given monthly education in both technical skills and Rebel salon culture. In addition, they earn certifications along the way that lead them down a clear path to becoming a stylist. Marisa sets higher standards for Rebel Hair Studio than the average salon. “The attention to detail we provide is really special due to our high focus in education,” she explains. “It keeps our stylists curious and super current.”
Meanwhile, Marisa herself has been in the industry for over 15 years. She started out sweeping up hair at a barber shop, but was working as a stylist from an early age. Beyond traditional circumstances, she also has experience doing bridal and editorial hair, like for New York and London Fashion weeks. Her world-class customer service and technical skill make Rebel Hair Studio stand apart. In particular, she specializes in razor cutting, curly hair, extensions, and boosting self-esteem. Patrons and friends alike know her for her perfectionism and warm, bubbly personality.
Future plans include opening a second location, and an educational space for surrounding stylists in the area.
