The town of Cherry Hill is now home to a new coffee company with a patriotic theme. Liberty Beans Coffee Company is a family-run, premium craft coffee roaster. They offer sustainably sourced coffee that consumers can buy online and ship nationwide; as well as whole sale, fundraising opportunities, and private label sales for businesses.
Liberty Beans Coffee Company does more than just sell coffee; they sell themed merchandise, whole beans, and also grind coffee to order. In addition, they work with all types of organizations, schools, sports teams, and more to raise money. They design custom labels to highlight these programs, and can do the same for weddings, birthday celebrations, and businesses. (For instance, if a business wishes to give their clients coffee bags as a thank you.)

A Strong (Brew) Start
“In our first 16 months, we have shipped coffee to every state except Hawaii,” says Jim Morton; Jim owns Liberty Beans Coffee Company with his wife, Diane. “We are anxiously awaiting that order. We will be happy to hand deliver that one!”
It will not come as a shock to know the coffee blends all have patriotic names at this spot. For example, The Liberty Blend is the signature blend that kicked off the whole company. Jim says it’s “a smooth every day, all-day-drinking coffee.” Click here to visit their online shop.

Likewise, The 68W takes its name from the call sign for Army Combat Medics; the role their son performs in the military. To honor him and other military families, Liberty Beans Coffee Company donates $1 per bag to the USO for every purchase of this dark, smooth, and bold blend. Meanwhile, their Amber Waves blend has a bright flavor with hints of citrus and berry. “What’s special about this blend is that it contains only beans from women-owned coffee farms; because women only own about 10% of the coffee farms worldwide,” Jim explains.
The Liberty Beans Coffee Company Difference
The Mortons know there are many choices when it comes to coffee. But they feel their process helps them stand out. “My culinary background and developed palate helps identify the flavors and attributes of each bean,” Jim says. “I roast small batches of each origin over and over; to find the roasting profile that will bring out the best in the coffee,” He continues. “I then decide if it should be sold as a single origin or would do well in a blend.”

Aside from Liberty Beans Coffee Company, Jim and Diane are both teachers. “We wanted to start a business that we could grow as we phase out of teaching,” Jim says. “Roasting coffee is the perfect combination of culinary arts and science,” he adds. “I love getting a new bean in and practicing roasting it until we get the perfect roasting profile.”
Future plans include expanding their presence in retail stores. They are also working with a local brewery to develop a Liberty Beans Coffee-flavored craft brew.
