There is no shortage of high quality hair stylists in New Jersey. However, what sets Colorbar The Salon in Spring Lake apart from the rest is their welcoming attitude and inclusive atmosphere. The full service beauty salon is co-owned by best friends since childhood, Ashley DeAzevedo and Sam DiVine.
“Everyone is welcome in our space,” Ashley – born and raised in Brick, NJ – says. “We are not the pretentious, snobby salon everyone is nervous about walking into. Colorbar is down to earth and friendly. We listen to what you have to say—really. We are not only a place you come to make you look beautiful, we make you feel good, too.”

Colorbar The Salon offers an array of services including cuts, coloring, styling, and chemical treatments. They also expertly handle extensions and weddings, offering both in-salon and on-site hair and makeup services In particular, Ashley says their current specialty is balayage and hair painting; the latter is “a freehand painting technique used to create a lived in, natural from-the-sun, highlighted look.” Click here for their full list of services.
Given the friendly atmosphere, it’s no surprise clients and staff now feel like family. “If you treat people right, they will return,” Ashley says. “My job is to create an environment people want to keep coming to,” she adds. As a local business owner, Ashley is passionate about what she does, always striving to improve. “I always want to be better than we were yesterday. To keep learning, keep ourselves current with trends, to be able to provide the best for our clients,” she explains.
About Colorbar The Salon
Ashley handles the customer service and operations at Colorbar The Salon, while Sam is a hairstylist. In fact, Ashley had been working as the manager of Colorbar when the opportunity to purchase it came in 2014. At the time, Sam was living in California working for celebrity stylist Sally Hershberger; Ashley thought buying the salon was a sure way to get her best friend back in Jersey. However, it only took 3 months for Sam to find another salon in West Hollywood, California for them to purchase. Now, the duo are bi-coastal best friends as well as business partners celebrating 8 years in business together.
Colorbar The Salon is just two blocks from the ocean, but still tucked away in Spring Lake’s downtown. After a major renovation in March 2021, the salon is now “real minimalist, with a boho vibe,” Ashley says.
