Most trips to Cape May feature popular activities such as bike rides, playing mini golf, and sight-seeing Victorian homes. But Cape May Cycle Cruises wants to make boat tours of Cape May’s back bays another mainstay activity.
Cape May Cycle Cruises offers two-hour public and private cruises. The activity is appropriate for all ages, and the boat can hold up to 20 guests. Patrons can also reserve the boat tour for a family outing, birthday party, bachelorette party, or as a vacation activity.

Sail the (Calm) Seas
Cape May Cycle Cruises offers a 30-foot pontoon boat with a 10-person cycle bar in the middle. Guests can sit on the bike seats and pedal to help the boat move. But those who don’t want to peddle have nothing to fear, as a motor actually does all the work. Passengers are free to just sit back and have a relaxing boat ride, without using the pedals.
The boat tour stays along the back bays of Cape May. One advantage of this is the waters are always calm, meaning there is little chance of experiencing sea sickness. Co-Owner Kyle Castellini says Cape May Cycle Cruises offers a number of sights to see during the ride. Guests can see the town’s Coast Guard base, with its large ships. They can also watch diners at the Lobster House. “People like to hoot and holler at people eating outside there,” Kyle says. The tour also showcases a number of eye-catching homes on the water and drives beneath the town’s bridge. Potential wildlife to spot include sea otters and eagles. “You really get a sea experience,” Kyle says.

Popular Cape May Cycle Cruises
Kyle says the most popular – and his favorite – cruise is their sunset cruise, boasting Instagrammable photos of the setting sun. “We adjust the time of the cruise to make sure you get the perfect view, best light and good pictures.”
Cape May Cycle Cruises operates daily from the end of April to mid-October. The boat also features a restroom, lounge area, and dance floor. On private cruises, guests can connect their music to the boat’s speaker. Patrons can bring their own snacks and food, but not beer bottles or hard alcohol. Future plans include offering tour boats in other shore towns.
