The Brady Shack Brings Italian Hot Dog to Lake Hopatcong

Brady Shack Logo

Summer is synonymous with certain types of eating, and The Brady Shack aims to provide them all. Now open in Lake Hopatcong, they serve salads and wraps as well as burgers, specialty sandwiches, and desserts. But their marquee menu item is the Italian Hot Dog, which you can read more about below.

The Brady Shack is a roughly 200-square foot space previously used as a snack shack at the marina. Now renovated, they serve “fun and traditional” quick-service food from a takeout window. They currently offer eight picnic tables on the large grass field around the docks, but more are coming soon. Co-partner Domenick Torlucci says everything fell into place in order to bring The Brady Shack to life. “The timing was right, the space was open, and we found a team to put this together,” he says.

A Meaty Menu

The Brady Shack specializes in Italian hot dogs, which you can order as a single or double; these hot dogs come loaded with Dijon mustard, peppers, onions, and fried potatoes served on fresh pizza bread. They also serve cheesesteaks, specialty burgers, and Jones sodas. Meanwhile, sweet treats include vanilla and chocolate custards, which you can swirl together if you prefer. “Quality is the key to our business,” Torlucci says. “We use the highest quality ingredients for everything we do.”

Italian Hot Dog

The two most popular items are also Torlucci’s favorite dishes on the menu. Of course he loves the Italian hot dog, but he’s also a big fan of The Brady Burger; two four-ounce special blend patties, sweet chili aioli, cheddar, avocado, and bacon/onion jam on a potato roll.

Vegetarian options at The Brady Shack include hummus and pita, in addition to salads and wraps. The menu is kid-friendly, too, with a number of choices; for instance, they serve tater tots, chicken tenders, burgers and hot dogs on potato rolls, plus chips and cookies.

About the Team

Torlucci is also the executive chef and director of operations at Stone Water, a lakefront restaurant in Lake Hopatcong. He spent 12 years working for Jose Andres, a Spanish American chef and restauranteur. His co-partner is Matthew Scanlon, a partner of Yo Mommas Cantina and Yo Mommas Tacos in Breckenridge, Colorado. Both grew up on Lake Hopatcong. “We have been best friends for over 20 years and wanted to start a business together,” Torlucci explains.
