North Jersey


Abma’s Farm

Where: Wyckoff
Details: The Abma family has been providing fresh produce and poultry from their 32-acre farm for over 85 years. In addition to their farm market, garden center, and petting zoo, Abma’s offers a CSA subscription. The program provides sustainable, locally grown produce — with three different share sizes — harvested the same day subscribers pick up. The 21-week season runs from June through October and includes seasonal greens, fruits and vegetables, and honey.


Boxed Organics

Where: Montclair
Details: Boxed Organics works with a variety of small farms in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. They bring Montclair residents fresh organic produce, and also source eggs from small flocks of pastured chickens. One standout detail is they are one of the few CSAs that offers boxes year-round. Subscribers sign up for each season separately, with pick up or delivery options available every other Friday (Montclair only). There is even an option to sponsor a share for a family in need.


Circle Brook Farm

Where: Andover
Details: This certified organic farm grows every type of vegetable possible in the NJ climate. Their offerings include many heirlooms and unique varieties, along with herbs and melons. In addition to supplying many farmer’s markets and other CSAs in the state, Circle Brook also offers its own program. Weekly pickup is available at locations in Jersey City, Montclair, Morristown, Westfield, and at their farm in Andover. A fruit share is also available as an add-on from another local farm.


Hawk Ridge Farm

Where: Lake Hopatcong
Details: This 10-acre farm sustainably produces organic fruits and vegetables, free-range eggs, and honey. They sell all available products, along with farm-to-table meals, at their onsite market. Meanwhile, their CSA subscription offers weekly and bi-weekly shares for pickup at the farm from June to September. Shares include in-season fruits and vegetables, with eggs as an add-on. Hawk Ridge Farm also operates as an animal rescue center with alpacas, mini horses, sheep, pigs, chicken, and honey bees.


Jersey City Harvest

Where: Jersey City
Details: Jersey City Harvest has been providing seasonal, organic produce and eggs to the community for nearly two decades. This volunteer group works with farmers to harvest and distribute weekly shares from two pickup locations in downtown Jersey City. Their 24-week program runs from mid-June through mid-November. Share options include eggs, fruit, flowers, and mushrooms. They also partner with a local food pantry to provide donation shares from group members and farmers.


School Lunch Organic Farm

Where: Hackettstown
Details: This certified organic, GMO-free farm offers more than 200 varieties of fruit, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and specialty crops. Up to 15 different types of produce are available each week. All produce is grown from seed on the 68-acre farm and harvested for same-day pick up. They also deliver weekly shares from June through September. Pickup locations include Mount Olive/Hackettstown, Maplewood, Morristown, Newark, Secaucus, and Westfield.


Stony Hill Farms

Where: Chester
Details: Weekly shares of fresh produce, meat, free-range eggs, cheeses, and ice cream are available from Stony Hill Farms. The 500-acre family-owned farm is certified organic, with a share season from June through November. Plus, they boast a larger percentage of fruit available throughout the season compared to other CSA programs. Their various box sizes and produce options are available for pickup in Chester, Hoboken, Jersey City, South Orange, and Weehawken.


Central Jersey


Chickadee Creek Farm

Where: Pennington
Details: The CSA program at this 10-acre certified organic farm is run differently than others. Patrons purchase a membership account that acts as credit for vegetables, flowers, and herbs at all Chickadee’s farmers’ market tents. Then members can choose exactly what they want or need, instead of waiting for a predetermined subscription box. Members also have exclusive access to pick-your-own berries, flowers, cherry tomatoes, and herbs on the farm.


Dreyer Farms

Where: Cranford
Details: The Dreyer Farms 27-week CSA program starts in May and runs until the week before Thanksgiving. Each week, subscribers receive fresh produce grown onsite or from other local farms. They also include recipes and ideas for the specific box contents. Their Market Share box includes meat, dairy, grains, and fresh produce so patrons can prepare a full meal. Meanwhile, the BAM box includes surprise goodies such as cheese, dough, and bone broth. Pickups are twice a week at the farm’s store.


Flocktown Farm

Where: Pittstown
Details: This 100-acre sustainable farm offers home delivery to more than 10 counties in North and Central Jersey. Patrons receive a certain number of credits for every share they purchase. They can then customize orders each week through an online account. Flocktown Farm lets subscribers skip a week if they’re on vacation, or outright cancel their share at any time. Their 25-week season runs from June to Thanksgiving, but often sells out quickly, so sign up early.


Fresh Ponds Farm

Where: Monroe
Details: From June to October, the family-run Fresh Ponds Farm offers a single size, weekly share. The package includes fresh produce, vegetables, and herbs. In particular, each weekly box contains six to eight varieties of produce. Optional add-ons include any of their specialty jams, hot sauces, pickled vegetables, and peppers. They also have flowers, honey, and fresh hen eggs available as box upgrades. Pickup is on Thursdays at the farm between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.


Windsong Farm

Where: Warren
Details: Windsong Farm grows organic and chemical-free vegetables, fruits, eggs, and honey. Their location on Farmer John’s Organic Produce is historic, as it is the site of NJ’s first organic operation. They only sell through their CSA membership, which sells out fast. A huge benefit here is that subscribers can request the exact variety and quantity they need each week online. There are no order limits, as Windsong relies on the honor system; asking members to only order what their families can consume.


Jersey Shore


Sassafras Hill Farm

Where: Barnegat
Details: This 27-acre farm is certified naturally grown, which is stricter than certified organic. There are no hydroponics or GMOs, and all crops are chemical-free, soil grown and harvested by hand. Sassafras Hill Farm offers vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, and honey. Baskets include a selection of seasonal vegetables, with up to 10 different varieties. They offer two different-sized shares either weekly or bi-weekly, with pickup available directly at the farm.


Silver Forge Farm

Where: Manalapan
Details: The shares at this small fruit, vegetable, and herb farm come with an added bonus. Each box also includes one or two dozen free-range eggs from pastured hens. In particular, their hens are Red Stars and produce brown eggs with dark yellow yolks. From May to October, weekly and bi-weekly baskets also include seasonal vegetables, heirloom varieties, greens, herbs, grapes, and berries. They also provide a U-Pick CSA herb garden, and encourage members to stop by and work on the farm.


Stone Circle Farm

Where: Cape May Court House
Details: In addition to their virtual farmstead and pop-up markets, Stone Circle Farm offers 20-week CSA memberships. This certified organic produce farm distributes their shares from mid-April through mid-September. Members receive fresh varieties from their no-chemical, no-tilled soil, with options for additions and substitutions by request. Pickup is at the farm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They sell out each year, so be sure to reserve a 2024 CSA membership in October 2023.


Walking Bird Farm

Where: Egg Harbor City
Details: This small produce farm offers a number of options for its CSA members. First, there are three different size shares, depending on the number of family members in the house. These shares range from four to eight items per week. Otherwise, they have a Market Card which allows members to make purchases without a weekly commitment. U-Pick strawberries, blueberries, flowers, herbs, cherry tomatoes, and green beans are also available for an additional fee.


South Jersey


A.T. Buzby Farm

Where: Pilesgrove
Details: A.T. Buzby Farm offers a 20-week fully customizable CSA membership from May through September. The family-owned farm features sustainable produce, strawberry, and melons. They customize every box for each member, with an online portal to preview and edit the order if necessary. In addition, they have a separate, limited time Autumn share every Tuesday for eight weeks. This box includes a variety of fall vegetables along with some favorites from the summer.


Cecil Creek Farm

Where: Mickleton
Details: This family-owned farm produces organically grown fruits and vegetables. Cecil Creek Farm offers three different CSA memberships in addition to their fresh farm market. In particular, they offer shares for 18 weeks in the summer, nine weeks in the fall, or an annual membership. All three options come with a choice of a fruit or vegetable share. Plus, their market-style distribution allows members to select exactly what they want each week. Members also receive a weekly newsletter and other benefits.


Fernbrook Farms

Where: Chesterfield
Details: Chemical-free vegetables, berries, flowers, and herbs are grown on this 230-acre working farm that practices sustainable farming. They have two share options, the first is a 26-week full CSA share from Memorial Day to Thanksgiving. The second is a 10-week share during any of those in-season weeks. Pickups are available from Wednesday through Saturday, and they encourage members to walk the farm trails and visit the animals. They also offer a hands-on educational experience for kids.


Turning Point Farm

Where: Woodstown
Details: Turning Point Farm is only about a year old, but produces more than 50 types of vegetables and fruit. They use both organic and regenerative farming practices to grow their produce from April through November. In addition to their market and farm stand, they offer a 28-week CSA program for up to 50 members. Subscribers receive custom full or half share boxes weekly after selecting their personal preferences. Weekly add-ons include fresh flowers, beef, sausage, eggs, coffee, and pickles.
