Smash Bunz in Freehold

There are no shortcuts taken at Smash Bunz in Freehold. Food is never frozen, every bun is perfectly toasted, and each patty is smashed fresh with love. The menu is built on bold flavors and fresh ingredients, featuring handcrafted smash burgers made daily. In short, they strive to make real food done right.

Owners and founders Sunil Ratwani and Ruby Bhalla believe that great food has the power to bring people together. What began as a simple idea to serve perfectly smashed patties soon grew into a movement rooted in flavor, quality, and authenticity. These patties are pressed on the grill to create a crispy, juicy, flattened burger.

Out Of This World Burgers

Open since April, Smash Bunz is a 2,400-square-foot fast casual burger spot. It’s a new concept from Sunil and Ruby, who also owned the location’s previous restaurant, Burrito Bowl Mexican Grill. The “ vibrant, hip, Gen Z” burger joint can seat 40 patrons indoors. But Sunil and Ruby don’t want Smash Bunz to be just about burgers. They want it to also be about providing a unique experience.

As a result, there are no boring burgers here. The menu instead showcases classic smash doubles, loaded creations, and unique UFO burgers. The latter is a sealed brioche bun stuffed with chicken, beef, or potato burgers, giving it an otherworldly spaceship appearance. Popular items include the Birria burger and the Shroom Truffle Burger. This 100% Angus beef double smash patty comes with caramelized onion, roasted mushrooms, truffle aioli, Swiss cheese, and crispy fried onions. Sunil and Ruby also love the Smash chicken burger.

Meanwhile, their fan favorite loaded fries are topped with cheese sauce, jalapenos, pickled onions, sour cream, and chipotle aioli. Their premium milkshakes – including the Oreo milkshake – are an early sensation as well.

About Smash Bunz

At Smash Bunz, food is prepared in-house daily using premium, quality ingredients. Their signature sauces, marinades, and smash blends are all made from scratch. The end result is clean Halal food in a microwave-free restaurant.

In addition to Smash Bunz, Sunil and Ruby operate four Burrito Bowl Mexican Grill locations. They also own a high-end Indian restaurant, Thumkaa Bar & Kitchen, in Jamesburg. Now, they have their sights set on turning Smash Bunz into a multi-chain restaurant.
