SFC Seoul Fried Chicken Serves Next-Level Korean Chicken

Seoul Fried Chicken

The surging popularity of Korean fried chicken in New Jersey is causing local businesses to level up their game. For instance, SFC Seoul Fried Chicken is raising the bar for Fast-Casual, Korean-style chicken. The restaurant has locations across Edison, Bound Brook, and Somerset.

When SFC Seoul Fried Chicken first hit the scene in March 2021, Founder and Chef Hansong Kim had one goal. He simply wanted to create the most delicious Korean fried chicken in the state. To do so, Hansong uses an authentic, Korean-style double-frying technique. This process delivers an ultra-crispy exterior and juicy interior, creating bold flavors and satisfying textures.

Chicken Made with Seoul

Signature items at SFC Seoul Fried Chicken are, not surprisingly, their fried chicken pieces and chicken sandwiches. House-made sauces include the fan favorite honey garlic, sweet and spicy, soy garlic, devil hot, and wasabi pepper.

Hansong’s personal favorite dish is the Southern chix sandwich. It’s a thick, juicy, six-ounce chicken breast served with coleslaw. “With every bite, you get a bold, hearty flavor that truly represents what SFC is all about,” he says.

SFC Chicken Combi

SFC Seoul Fried Chicken believes they stand out from the pack. For starters, every recipe is crafted by Hansong from scratch. This includes the chicken breading, batter, and the homemade sauces. Their chicken batter is a top-secret recipe. Food is always freshly fried, never frozen, and the chicken is non-GMO, without hormones or antibiotics. (Chicken is also certified fresh halal each month.) Sauces are made from scratch daily.

About The Restaurant

SFC Seoul Fried Chicken stands apart from other Korean-style chicken restaurants in a few ways. “Unlike most fried chicken restaurants where the fryer is tucked away in the back, we feature an open kitchen,” Hansong says. “Customers can watch their chicken being freshly fried right in front of them. It builds trust, adds excitement, and strengthens the connection between our kitchen and our guests.”

They also offer catering boxes for groups of 5 or 10 diners. These boxes include drumsticks, wings, coleslaw, cornbread, waffle fries, and sauces.

Chef Hansong Kim

Chef Hansong thinks Korean fried chicken is having a moment now for a few reasons. Chicken is already considered a leaner, healthier protein than red meat. In addition, chicken is cost-effective for customers and restaurants. It has versatility, blending well with different spices, sauces, and cultural cuisines. Convenience is also a key factor, as wings, tenders, and sandwiches are ideal for takeout, delivery, and busy lifestyles.

Chef Hansong holds a master’s degree from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. In Korea, he rose to national recognition through culinary competitions and TV appearances. He has published seven cookbooks, and is an educator and advocate for Korean cuisine.
