Rosie’s Blends a Medley of Cuisines in Ocean Gate

Rosies Interior design

At Rosie’s in Ocean Gate, modern design meets sea shore tranquility. The American fusion restaurant offers an elevated and fresh dining experience in their main dining areas; as well as a hip yet classic experience in their bar and lounge area. They also have a second floor deck for an airy outdoor dining experience.

The 3,500-square foot Rosie’s is named and concepted after the owner’s late grandmother, Rose Iaria. The spot hits close to home for Owner Robert Lange, who grew up less than a mile from the location.

The Menu and Atmosphere

Rosie’s can seat nearly 200 guests inside the restaurant. Meanwhile, their second-floor outdoor deck seating “has great water views and is quiet and private,” Robert says. He also describes the space as “coastal, modern, and trendy while maintaining an elevated style and classic feel.”

The menu at Rosie’s blends high-end seafood and American fare, while highlighting Italian and Asian influences. “It’s progressive for Ocean County,” Robert says. For instance, popular menu items include the fried calamari, pub burger, homemade ravioli Bolognese, penne vodka, and seafood risotto. Parents will also love that all kids meals come with a drink and dessert. In particular, Robert loves both the house-made from scratch edamame dumplings and the chicken Milanese.

Frequent guests can take advantage of their happy hour food specials and expanded daily drink specials. Each day from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, patrons can enjoy food and drink specials. These include $5 house wines and sangria, $2 select drafts, $3 select bottles of beer, and $6 select well drinks. The cocktail menu offers fun options such as the Boardwalk Rum Runner and Ocean Gate Gin Twist. Click here to see the full dinner menu.

A Family Business

Rosie’s is a true family venture. Robert is the primary owner, but his mother (Susan Iaria), brother (Trey Rodgers), and sister-in-law (Danielle) are involved, too. Others involved in the business are Robert Kosinski as a small partner, plus family friends Vinny and Gina Geary. While Robert has no previous restaurant ownership experience, he’s worked in the restaurant industry. “I have a whole lot of passion and a general business background,” he says. He also credits Executive Chef Chris Herman and Sous Chef Albin Puerto as instrumental to opening; in addition to chef consultant Maura Zafarana.

Exterior Patio

Future plans for Rosie’s include developing the backyard patio into a tiki bar-style space.
