Yes, One World Pizza in Jersey City has the word pizza in its name. But don’t be mistaken, this spot isn’t a traditional pizzeria. Instead, their goal is to create diverse, global dishes that they translate into pizza. Because even though every country has its own way of making pizza, these multicultural interpretations rarely make it onto menus.
At One World Pizza, Founder Tory Aunspach says each dish is built to tell a story. “The United States has never fully experienced the global language of pizza. But we can change that by layering chef-driven nuance, flavor, and cultural integrity into every pie we make.” Tory also runs Alyce (lunch and dinner) and The Wanderer (coffee bar and cocktail lounge), all along the same building. Meanwhile, Chef Jesus Sanchez is the chef de cuisine at One World Pizza.

It’s Pizza, But Different
The pizzas here take inspiration from popular cuisine throughout the world. For instance, their Chicken Makhani pizza uses Indian butter sauce with fresh herbs and spices. Then there’s the Salmon Lox pizza, a tribute to NYC deli culture. This pie is layered with dill cream cheese, capers, and shaved onion. Other popular options at One World Pizza are the Jamaican jerked brisket pie and truffle tartufata pizza.
However, their most-requested (and Tory’s favorite pie) is the bulgogi. This uses marinated Korean beef with a kimchi base, topped with garlic chili and scallion. Even guests who typically avoid eating pizza crust will want to take note of this: All pizzas are finished with a garlic confit crust and freshly grated parmesan. “Food should speak to where you’ve been, where you come from, and where you want to go next,” Tory says.

Inside One World Pizza, they exclusively seat guests at a four-person, counter chef’s table. Tory wants it that way to give diners a personal, immersive, relaxed experience where they can watch, interact, and learn. Unlike traditional, pricier chef’s tables, this one is casual and affordable. One-hour meals cost about $40 per person (plus tax and tip). The experience starts with an appetizer bite of flavors the chef will prepare (called an amuse-bouche). Then moves on to two, large shareable salads and a personal pizza for each guest from a rotating menu.
About Chef Tory Aunspach
Tory is a Jersey City-based entrepreneur and operator with more than 30 years in the culinary and hospitality world. Prior to settling in Jersey City, he spent years cooking as a private chef for billionaires, political leaders, and influential global families. These experiences gave him a deep understanding of global flavor traditions and cooking. “Great food doesn’t require luxury, it requires care,” he says.

Future plans include a limited-time ‘passport’ series. During this time, they will introduce a new pie inspired by a different country’s signature dish every few weeks.
