Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque Comes to Garden State Plaza

New Jersey natives who love good barbecue have yet another reason to be excited. After opening their first NJ location in Clifton, Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque – the “first top-to-bottom, true New York City barbecue” restaurant – now has another home at the Garden State Plaza of Paramus.

As if that wasn’t enough good news for Bergen County residents, the Mighty Quinn’s at GSP (located right across from Shake Shack) also features an exclusive menu item!

On behalf of Best of NJ, I visited Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque during its grand opening week (the Garden State Plaza location opened its doors on January 23) for a taste test of both their exclusive item, Chicken and Waffles, as well as one of the growing franchise’s most popular sides, Sweet Potato Casserole. Before getting into the details, I can confirm that both are delicious. But I was actually surprised by which dish I loved the most.

I’m not much of a breakfast person; by that I mean I don’t like having light meals in the morning. If you give me the choice between cereal or pasta for breakfast, I’ll choose pasta every time. I mention this because chicken and waffles is basically the perfect meal for me at any time of day. The Mighty Quinn’s variation combines crispy chicken breast and cornbread waffles topped with maple syrup and lime butter. It’s a sizable portion and tastes great, particularly when paired with the casserole.

The Sweet Potato Casserole side dish turned out to be even better than the main course. As much as I enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles dish, the Sweet Potato Casserole was a real treat. (Plus, it’s one of Mighty Quinn’s vegetarian menu items.) The sweet potato is paired with maple and pecans for a side dish that is both filling and delicious. In fact, it’s actually sweet enough to eat for dessert. It’s definitely a must-try for anyone heading to the new Garden State Plaza fast-casual restaurant for a meal.

Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque can be found on the second floor of Garden State Plaza. Their business hours can be found below. Visit their website for menu details and info about other locations.
