There’s always room for another coffee shop in Bergen County. Hackensack residents can now visit Iconic Coffee, a spot that serves signature coffees and French pastries. Their roaster is Coffee Project NYC, an SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certified training campus that also trains baristas.
The 1,400-square foot cafe is a passion project for owner LeVar Thomas. “As a proud resident of Bergen County, this community is my home and holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I grew up, made lifelong memories, and formed lasting connections,” he says. “Being able to pursue my passion right here, in the place I still call home, allows me to give back to the community that has given me so much.”

Cozy Coffee Shop
LeVar wants everyone to feel comfortable at Iconic Coffee. The cafe currently seats 25 guests indoors, with future plans for outdoor seating. “The inside décor of our coffee shop exudes an inviting and homey ambiance with a touch of elegance,” LeVar says.
For instance, the interior is decorated with flowers and red, black, and white décor. “Every element has been selected to foster a warm and welcoming vibe that invites you to enjoy your coffee. I wanted to create an inviting space where every person feels embraced, celebrated, and instantly at home.”
Popular Iconic Coffee beverages include sweet Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso with Cinnamon, and the Iconic Triple Wave Refresher. The latter is a signature beverage. One other popular option is the Iconic Flight, aka the liquid breakfast. This flight includes a double espresso, iconic cold brew, and organic green juice.
Pastries and Possibilities
Beyond coffee options, Iconic Coffee serves an assortment of French pastries including the Amann croissant. They also serve Southern-inspired treats like monkey bread, as well as sandwiches and salads. In particular, LeVar loves the Salmon crostini with its grilled salmon atop a baguette slice.
LeVar has always loved coffee and exploration. Inspired by his travels throughout Europe, he fell in love with the rich and diverse coffee cultures he discovered. Iconic Coffee is his way of bringing these experiences home to share with his community.
