Grandma’s Pizza Mixes Modern & Classic Pies in Wayne

Grandma's Pizza Italian Rice Balls

There is no shortage of high quality pizzerias in New Jersey. To stand out, a restaurant has to offer a mix of traditional pies and unique or exotic options. Grandma’s Pizza in Wayne does just that, with a menu that serves classic pizza pies and some fun twists; including, of course, their signature variety of Grandma pizzas.

The 1,375-square foot Grandma’s Pizza seats about 25 diners inside, in addition to two tables on the sidewalk. “We have a cozy-family friendly dining room,” says manager Ash Bitar. They also set the mood to match the décor by playing soft Italian music. “We have flowers on the table for the spring and can light a candle for a more romantic evening feel.”

Pizza for the Soul

The owners of Grandma’s Pizza take pride in every dish they serve. “We serve food that warms your heart,” Bitar says. “We have a little something for everyone; it is definitely comfort food. Our goal is always to make food from our hearts. We would never serve our customers anything that we wouldn’t serve the family.”

Their menu features authentic options such as their Italian Rice Balls. In particular, Bitar’s favorite dish is the gnocchi in vodka or Alfredo sauce. However, other dinner entree standouts include the mandarin chicken salad and Sloppy Adam’s chicken Panini; the latter comes with chicken cutlet, bacon, fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, and Thousand Island dressing. Then for dessert, they recommend pairing their unique pistachio cheesecake with a cup of coppa caffe. Click here to see the full menu.

As for the pizza, one of their best sellers is the Drunken Grandma pie; a thin crust square pizza topped with vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, fresh garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Another unique option is the Hungry Grandma, with mango chunks, chicken cutlet, and pineapple with a honey mustard drizzle. Likewise, the Melanzana pie features grilled eggplant, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and homemade plum tomato sauce, with fresh basil on top. Of course, they also have classic pies like Chicken Parm, Veggie, Margarita, Ziti, and Hawaiian.
