A new authentic Mexican restaurant is now open in Keansburg. The name El Sabor De Mi Pueblo translates to “the flavor of my town,” in English. The focus is on fresh at this spot, which also combines flavors from Africa and Europe in its dishes.
This 500-square-foot eatery seats 10 guests indoors. (In particular, they have a single table for two and then two tables for four). “The inside décor and vibe are Mexican based,” says Leidy Garcia, restaurant manager. “Our shop is warm and cozy,” she adds.

Of course, there is so much variation when it comes to Mexican food; many regions boast their own dishes and specialties. With this in mind, El Sabor De Mi Pueblo focuses on one style in particular. “Our food is the most authentic La Puebla style food,” Leidy says. In fact, Puebla style food uniquely blends indigenous, Spanish, and Arab influences into Mexican dishes. “Everything in our restaurant is made the Puebla way. Everything we serve is made fresh at our store, from our chips to our salsas to the tortillas.”
Leidy says that the tacos, Columbian empanadas (made with steak or chicken), and burritos are all hits. The Tortas (traditional Mexican sandwiches), however, are her favorite. “They’re just delicious and for me, one of the best items on our menu,” she says. These Tortas can be made with steak or chicken, as well as marinated pork, or shredded pork.
This family-owned restaurant is run by Queru and Pascual Flores. Though El Sabor is their first restaurant, they receive guidance from a family member who has some experience. Meanwhile, the family looks forward to serving the Keansburg community.
