Let’s be honest. Despite the warning labels, we’ve all eaten raw cookie dough while making cookies. But thanks to Doughzerts in Pequannock, we can all now safely enjoy edible cookie dough. The dessert shop specializes in safe to eat, edible cookie doughs.
Though the 1,077-square-foot space is in Pequannock, owner Nick Adubato lives in nearby Nutley. “When I saw that this space was becoming available, I jumped at the opportunity to lease it,” he says. Early response has been positive, with some customers traveling 30 to 45 minutes just to try the edible doughs. “It’s humbling and gratifying,” Nick admits.

Makin’ That Dough
Doughzerts offers 12 flavors at any time: 10 standard, everyday flavors and two rotating ones. Popular flavors include chocolate chip, brownie batter, and brown sugar Nutella. Other standouts range from sugar, red velvet, and oatmeal M&M, to Nick’s favorite, cinnamon roll. Customers also note the s’mores, peanut butter, cookies & cream, and caramel apple pie doughs are early favorites.
At Doughzerts, customers can order one, two, or three scoops at a time. (Mixing and matching flavors is available for two- or three-scoop sizes.) “Edible cookie dough takes people back to when they were a kid, helping their moms bake cookies and being told not to eat the dough, even though that was the best part of making cookies,” Nick says.

Beyond edible cookie dough, Doughzerts also serves “Doughlettes” which are cookie dough balls dipped in chocolate. Nick loves “T.J.’s Cherry Bomb Doughlettes,” named after his late father who loved cherry-flavored food. Other menu items include cookie dough bars, no-bake cheesecake cups, and some other surprises.
About Doughzerts
For those that can’t make it into the shop, Doughzerts offers delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash. They don’t ship orders yet, but Nick hopes to do so nationwide in the future. They also plan to introduce more rotating seasonal flavors, and additional flavors for the other no-bake desserts.

Nick was at the management level for various Stop & Shops in New Jersey. “I’d been making doughs and various no-bake desserts for years for friends and family; and finally decided to make it a career after the great response I’d received,” he says.
