Runnemede is now home to Avocado Mexican Grill, a restaurant with a family-friendly menu featuring popular Mexican dishes. In fact, the focus on family doesn’t end with the menu. This family-owned business puts the idea at the forefront of their décor and more.
Avocado Mexican Grill is a 4,463-square foot space that seats up to 80 indoors. (Outdoor seating is also in the works.) “We’re a family-owned business with children of our own,” says Owner Charlotte Perez. “We strive to create a space that is nice enough for a couple to enjoy an anniversary dinner; but welcome enough for family to bring their young children along, too.”

The Perez family hails from Vera Cruz, Mexico, and takes inspiration from that region. “Our menu includes traditional Mexican dishes, but we also have several Americanized dishes,” Charlotte says. Their fresh tortilla chips and guacamole are a fan favorite, but Charlotte personally loves the seafood burrito; scallops and shrimp in a 12-inch tortilla with Spanish rice, refried beans, and Monterey Jack cheese. Their dessert menu includes fried cheesecake as well as churros, fried ice cream, fried plantains, and flan napolitano.
Meanwhile, the Avocado Mexican Grill kids’ menu features chicken fingers and French fries, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and grilled cheese. (Charlotte says her 3-year-old and 1.5-year-old sons love the chicken fingers and fries.) The restaurant is also a great spot to host birthday celebrations, though they recommend making a reservation beforehand.
About the Owners
Charlotte describes Avocado Mexican Grill as “a family affair” from start to finish. Her husband, Siloe, is the operational manager, making day-to-day decisions to keep them up and running. His experience comes from a decade of specializing in international produce. “He uses his experience to ensure we get the ingredients we need,” Charlotte explains. Even the kids are part of the action; “Our sons are our official ‘poster kids’ and enjoy flooding our social media accounts,” Charlotte says.
Meanwhile, Siloe’s brother Emmanuel is in charge of the kitchen. “He is the talent behind all of our dishes,” Charlotte adds. “He has years of experience running a kitchen and has a flair for preserving great flavors at the commercial level.” Finally, Emmanuel’s wife, Marce, trains the front-of-the-house employees.
“We hope that our restaurant is a place that families gather and celebrate life’s little moments; because to us, that is what South Jersey represents—family,” Charlotte says.
