Bergen County’s Star-Spangled Spectacular

Details: Bergen County’s 3rd Annual Star-Spangled Spectacular returns to Overpeck County Park. All are invited to attend this patriotic afternoon of family fun which will include live music, children’s activities, over 20 food trucks, a beer and wine garden, carnival attractions, and stunning fireworks to conclude the evening over Overpeck Creek. This year’s musical guests include Bergen County natives and legendary hip-hop group The Sugarhill Gang, plus New Jersey Wind Symphony, Super Trans AM, Glenn Roberts Band, and Tempo Alegre.

Liberty Madness

Details: Middlesex County and the local theatre company, Thinkery & Verse, proudly present an original live production of Liberty Madness at State Theatre New Jersey. Liberty Madness is a dynamic, magical stage play that tells the story of America’s haunted past, and New Jersey’s pivotal role, set on the eve of the American Revolution in 1776. It tells an epic story through shadows and illumination, masterful storytelling, and live music, to understand the people who lived through the American Revolution 250 years ago.


New Jersey State Parks Celebrate 250 Challenge

Details: This yearlong challenge encourages visitors of all ages and abilities to explore New Jersey’s 41 state parks, 11 state forests, five recreation areas, and 50+ historic sites and districts while building healthy habits and honoring this milestone year. All participants who successfully complete one of the five challenge options will earn a Certificate of Achievement; as well as the opportunity to be recognized on New Jersey State Parks’ social media. Paulsboro Revolution 250

Details: Get ready to walk through time and discover why Fort Billingsport was so important for our country as we became the United States of America. Guests can visit Revolutionary War Era tents with living history presentations throughout the park. Children can explore American history and receive a stamp per activity on the back of their Passport to History! Presentations include Revolutionary War Era Artifacts, Women’s Rights circa 1776, Revolutionary War Soldiers’ Food, Meaning of the Declaration of Independence, and more.


Sail4th 250

Details: To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, the largest fleet of the world’s most magnificent tall ships and gray hull ships will sail into New York Harbor, pass in Presidential review, and salute the Statue of Liberty.

 Along with the majestic tall ships flotilla, a diverse array of events, festivities, and celebrations will be held to celebrate America’s 250th. This includes a Parade of Class B Ships on July 3 before the main events on July 4. They include an International Naval Review, Parade of Class A Tall Ships, and the Grand Review of Tall Ships.


Scotch Plains Revolution 250

When: Friday, June 26 (4:30 – 7:30 pm), Saturday, June 27 (5:00 pm – 10:00 pm)
Details: Scotch Plains is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a two-day Revolution 250 event. This special event begins on January 26 with a parade, fireworks, a time capsule opening, and performance by the Nettingham Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Then, on Saturday, Shady Rest Country Club will host food trucks, live music, and more fireworks. The celebration is made possible thanks to Stage House Tavern, Preserve Shady Rest, the Union County Board of County Commissioners, and the RevolutionNJ Community.


Spirit of ’76: The Bicentennial

When: February 14, 2026 through February 21, 2027
Details: The “Spirit of ’76: The Bicentennial” exhibition examines the multitude of ways governments, businesses, and citizens reflected upon and marked the 200th anniversary of the nation’s independence. Drawing exclusively from the State Museum’s own collection, the exhibition showcases an assortment of rarely seen artifacts and artworks produced 50 years ago for the Bicentennial. Celebrating the distinct look and feel of 1970s America, the exhibition is found on the Museum’s second floor Riverside gallery.


Tavern Talks at the American Revolution Museum of South Jersey

Details: Calling all history-curious brewery enthusiasts to join RevolutionNJ in the age old tradition of debating revolutionary ideas in bars with friends. Come to an afternoon of immersive history featuring brews by Kings Road Brewery. In a defining moment for the American colonies, you must decide which side to take. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with reenactors about problems that we still face in our communities today, and use their civic voices as part of an interactive, immersive experience.


The Revolutionary War at the Hermitage

When: July 11, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Details: Come experience American history firsthand as the members of Outwater’s Militia and George Washington himself visit the grounds. The Revolutionary War at the Hermitage re-enacts the time that Washington’s troops actually stayed at the Hermitage in 1778. Guests can witness the firing of the muskets and interact with George Washington, the troops, and craftspeople. There will also be an ongoing “Battle of Monmouth war game” for kids. Of course, don’t forget to take a tour inside the historic Hermitage house.
