The Griggstown Reformed Church will hold its 139th Annual Harvest Home on Saturday, August 17, 2019. This event brings together Griggstown residents and the surrounding communities for a day of fun, food and frolics.
Festival start time is 3:30 PM. From the opening, the food stand will be open with hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage and chicken sandwiches, fresh corn on the cob, homemade baked beans, homemade vegetarian chili and coleslaw, as well as other foods available for reasonable prices. The baked goods stand is always open and festival-goers can buy homemade dessert for at the event or even to take home for another day. The Works – ice cream, angel food cake and peaches – is always a popular treat; along with the fresh baked pies of blueberry, apple and peach.
Throughout the day, entertainment will be provided by the Blawenberg Band – a community band founded in 1890 – along with the Sweet Adelines and some other local performers. Attendees can stroll through the grounds of GRC and check out the Quilt display in the church building, the Silent Auction – which goes off at 6:30 p.m., a display of wares from the Believers Youth Group, a Dollar Stand and other local displays which include antique tractors, a model train display and local quarter midget racers and their cars.
The kids can be kept entertained with games and prizes for nominal prices for tickets to participate. The ever popular, for children and adults alike, coconut toss, strong man bell and dunk tank will be on hand.
Come on out and enjoy a wonderful day!
