Fall Semester Art Classes – 8 Weeks

    Event Description:

    In this 8 week course, students ages 10-16 years of age who have an interest in drawing are encouraged to explore various mediums to create original works of art. Projects will be created beginning with student interest, using mediums such as gouache, printmaking, and pen and ink We will learn what illustration is, and refine our skills through a series of projects focusing on the 7 elements of art; Line, Shape, Form, Space, Texture, Value, and Color. Students will study past and present illustrators and examine what separates these artists from the pack. Lastly, student artists will harness their own creative ideas to create meaningful works of art. Any skill level with the passion to create art is welcome to take the course. What supplies will students need to bring or purchase for the class?- Sketchbook- Pencils (or Mechanical Drawing Pencil 2.0 mm)- Pens ( 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm, brush)- Markers (Copic/Caio or Sketch, Prismacolor, Blick) whichever brand fits your budget- Linoleum or Rubber block for printing – Block cutting tools – Gouache Paint (Basic set) – Brushes ( round, flat, chisel, detail)- Bristol board – smooth- Canvas (pre-stretched, your choice of size) Fall Class Schedule:Tuesdays October 1st – Nov 19th 2019(20 Seats Available per 8 Week Course) October 1st , 2019 4:30pm – 6pmOctober 8th, 4:30pm – 6pmOctober 15th, 4:30pm – 6pmOctober 22nd, 4:30pm – 6pmOctober 29th, 4:30pm – 6pmNovember 5th, 4:30pm – 6pmNovember 12th, 4:30pm – 6pmNovember 19th, 4:30pm – 6pm About the Instructor Joe Lippincott has been teaching art to students of varying ability for the last 7 years. He currently teaches art in the Mt. Ephraim School District. He holds both a bachelor’s in illustration and a master’s in education. He believes all students have the ability to be creative, and that becoming better at the craft can be practiced like sports or music. Art is not only about creating an aesthetically pleasing image, but how the artist learns to think critically and problem solve, in their own original way.
