This time of year, many New Jersey farms also feature fun, family-friendly activities like hayrides, corn mazes and petting zoos. (Note for mom and dad: A few even offer some wine tastings!)

Riamede Farm

Happy Day Farm

Where: 77 Iron Ore Road, Manalapan
Details: This Monmouth County farm offers plenty of fun for the entire family. In addition to an abundant pumpkin patch, guests to the farm can enjoy a variety of fall activities including pig races, hayrides and zoo animals. Be sure to check out this year’s corn maze, honoring 75 years of Curious George. Happy Day Farm’s Pumpkin Festival takes place from September 30 through October 29. Terhune Orchards

Where: 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton
Details: Head to Terhune Orchards to find that perfect Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin. The farm’s huge pick-your-own patch features pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. During the farm’s Apple Days Fall Harvest Festival Weekends, kids can visit the paint-your-own pumpkin decorating area. Cheese pumpkins, which are perfect for baking, are also available in the farm store. Weekend activities also include music, pony rides, scavenger hunts and a corn maze. There’s even a wine tasting room on-site, featuring award-winning wines made from grapes grown at Terhune Orchards.

Demarest Farms

On October 6, 13 and 20, guests can take a tractor-pulled hayride to the pumpkin patch where they watch a family friendly film, Spookley the Square Pumpkin. Admission is $16 and includes the movie, hayride, one pumpkin, two petting zoos and more. Melick’s Town Farm

Details: Perhaps one of the most popular farms in the state, Alstede Farms features tons of fall family fun. In addition to pumpkin picking, the farm features a bounce house, hay pyramid, corn maze and farm animals. Be sure to try a scoop of the farm’s delicious homemade pumpkin ice cream while you’re there. Visitors can pick pumpkins from mid-September through mid-November.
