Labor Day is fast approaching, and the Garden State is full of outdoor options to consider. No matter what part of the state you’re in, New Jersey has a variety of events to offer, ranging from carnivals and parades to art walks and music festivals. With that in mind, we’ve narrowed down a list of the best Labor Day weekend events to attend. Boonton Fireman’s Carnival & Parade
Where: 306 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, Morris County
When: August 31 – September 3
Details: The 2017 Boonton Fireman’s Carnival is coming to Morris County again for four straight days filled with tons of food, live entertainment, raffles, and a variety of games and rides. The 126th Anniversary Parade kicks off Saturday’s festivities in the early afternoon. The last day of the carnival will feature a pig roast at 5:00 pm and a fireworks show at 10:00 pm to end the wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Saturday Night Lights
Where: Mountain Creek, 200 Route 94, Vernon, Sussex County
When: September 2, 7:00 – 10:00 pm
Price: “Free” ($10 general parking; must have waterpark admission to enter the waterpark)
Details: Saturday hours are extended at Mountain Creek as families can come out to enjoy a myriad of activities and comforts, including lawn games, live musical entertainment, face-painting, hair-braiding, food and drinks, and much more. The Saturday before Labor Day marks the last Saturday Night Lights Party of the 2017 summer, and there also will be a spectacular fireworks display to end the night.

Spring Lake Labor Day End of Summer Celebration & Art Walk
Where: 3rd Avenue, Spring Lake, Monmouth County
When: September 2, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Details: Visitors of this quaint shore town can stroll through the 3rd Avenue Business District of Spring Lake Village, admire the works of local artists, do a bit of shopping at area retailers and vendors, hang out on the beach or grab a bite to eat at any of Spring Lake’s distinguished restaurants. The annual event provides an enjoyable end-of-summer day for tourists and locals alike.

Bacon, Bikes, and Brews and the Historic Village at Allaire
Where: 4263 Atlantic Avenue, Farmingdale, Monmouth County
When: September 2 – 4, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Price: $10 for adults, free for guests under 18
Details: The Bacon, Bikes, and Brews event, held on Saturday and Sunday, will feature an extensive beer tent, food trucks with bacon-themed items, craft vendors, live bands, fun activities for children and tours of the historic buildings. The Historic Village at Allaire will also be open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Labor Day to mark the beginning of fall hours for the museum.

Monmouth Park BBQ & Craft Beer Festival
Where: Monmouth Park Racetrack, 175 Oceanport Avenue, Oceanport, Monmouth County
When: September 2 – 4, 11:30 am – 5:30 pm
Price: $5, free for children 12 and under ($5 general parking)
Details: This annual BBQ & Craft Beer Festival offers tons of mouthwatering barbecue dishes and craft beers from local and nationally recognized vendors. Family Fun Day activities for kids of all ages are also available on Saturday and Sunday, such as clowns, face painters, pony rides and a bounce house, and the event stage will host several live musical acts.

Where: Frenchtown, Hunterdon County
When: September 3, 12:00 – 7:00 pm
Details: The annual Frenchtown Riverfest celebrates life on the Delaware River. Past events have featured a main stage with live entertainment, acclaimed food vendors, work by local artists, crafts and other family-friendly activities. Visitors can also stroll through Frenchtown and do some shopping at area stores and bask in the lush scenery of this Hunterdon County borough.

Wildwood Block Party & Music Festival
Where: Fox Park, Ocean Avenue (between Burk and Montgomery avenues), Wildwood, Cape May County

Details: The Wildwood Block Party & Music Festival is absolutely free, and it’s fun for all ages—from young children all the way up to their parents and grandparents. The event features tons of crafts, games, rides, food and live musical entertainment for 12 straight hours at the city’s Fox Park.

Riverdale Labor Day Street Fair
Where: 91 Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale, Morris County
When: September 4, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Details: A section of the Newark-Pompton Turnpike, from Newbury Place to Cotluss Road, will be closed off and turned into a giant town block party featuring a wide variety of food, specialty vendors, live entertainment, crafts, games and other fun activities for attendees. Kids will love the goofy clowns as well as the climbing wall, face-painting artists, sand art and creative temporary tattoos.

The 42nd Annual Rutherford Labor Day Street Fair
Where: Park Avenue (between East Park Place and Ames Avenue), Rutherford, Bergen County
When: September 4, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Details: The Annual Rutherford Labor Day Street Fair is the oldest and largest one-day street festival in the Garden State. This year’s event is once again bringing lively entertainment and activities for families, couples and groups of friends. Guests have free range to traverse the avenue, as well as Lincoln and William Carlos Williams parks, to experience the fair’s food stands, beer garden, crafts, antiques, street performers and kids’ amusements.

Annual South Plainfield Labor Day Celebration
Where: 2201 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, Middlesex County
When: September 4, 10:00 am
Details: This year’s Labor Day celebration is kicking off with the 60th South Plainfield Labor Day Parade, highlighting bands, floats, a cast of eccentric characters, volunteer and athletic organizations, military representatives and other community individuals and agencies. The parade travels from the Police Athletic League (PAL) on Maple Avenue and concludes at South Plainfield Middle School on Plainfield Avenue. Following the procession, the celebration will provide live entertainment, an array of food and a fireworks display to end the night.
