The New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge is an annual event that is a competition in which contestants are given the task of visiting all 13 lighthouses in the state of New Jersey in a two day period. The program is sponsored to increase awareness of New Jersey’s historic lighthouses along the Jersey Shore, the Delaware Bay and the Delaware River.
The challenge this year is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th, 2009. Here is a list of the lighthouses included in the challenge, the hours of the challenge and the hours that the site is open to the public. All the lighthouses listed below with an asterisck are night time climbs meaning that you can go up in the lighthouse for two additional hours on Saturday night. The view from the lighthouses after dark is very different than it is during the daytime. Get more information at the Lighthouse Website here.
