Updated February 15, 2014: Valentine’s Weekend in North Jersey. Pax has made a total mess out of everyone’s plans for Valentine’s Day. We’ve already heard from people in the business that a lot of people are changing their reservations from tonight to Saturday night. We’ve seen that some restaurants have taken their special holiday menu and extended it for the entire month of February. Everything is in flux. We’ll keep you updated as much as possible.

For most places, you can still get a table on tonight or Sunday, but you better reserve that soon too because they’re filling up fast.

Bibi’z Valentine’s Dinner, (update on 2/15/2014: reservations & tables still available), $65.00, Special menu on Tuesday-Sunday, February 11-16: Bibi’z is staging an entire week of celebration dinners. The dinner includes a sparkling wine toast and a 3 course dinner with romantic themed courses like aphrodisiac and seduction. Highlights of the menu include: a balsamic pear salad, trio of dips with hummus, shucked oysters, grilled filet mignon, blackened salmon, rack of lamb and chocolate lava cake.

Chakra Valentine’s Dinner, (update on 2/15/2014: Saturday & Sunday reservations available), call for more details or waiting list, $89.00, Paramus: Chakra is a distinctly romantic choice for Valentine’s Day with its waterfall, plush booths and dramatic lighting. The 4 course prix-fixe dinner features some of Chef Thomas Ciszak’s favorite dishes: his signature horseradish crusted crabcake, licorice glazed pork belly confit, chili-cinnamon glazed Chilean sea bass with potato wrapped shrimp, surf & turf of filet of beef and lobster tail, the TC Steak and the Valrhona chocolate brioche bread pudding. Ho-Ho-Kus Inn & Tavern, (update on 2/15/2014: Saturday and Sunday reservations available), $75.00: Consistently voted one of the best and most romantic restaurants in Bergen County, the Inn offers an elegant meal for Valentine’s Day. This year they are featuring a 4 course feast with complimentary champagne for $75.00 per person. Some highlights from that menu included: a 16 oz. ribeye, wild mushroom lasagna, halibut, lamb, scallops and steak tartare.

Escape Valentine’s Dinner, (update on 2/15/2014: Saturday and Sunday reservations available), $68.00, Montclair: Escape cultivates local ingredients in their innovative Southern style cuisine. Their 3 course dinner for $68.00 features: a lobster salad with watercress and Meyer lemon puree, winter squash grits with duck bacon, smoked pork belly, Chateaubriand, black bass, Elysian lamb saddle, scallops and a surprise dessert.

Highlawn Pavillion Dinner, update on 2/15/2014: limited Saturday & Sunday tables available, $79.00, West Orange: Highlawn is featuring a charming 4 course dinner for Valentine’s Day. Highlights from the menu include: crab and shrimp bisque with tarragon, a seafood sampler with shrimp, oysters, lobster and crab legs ($8.00 more), filet mignon, veal osso bucco and a dessert sampler with a raspberry-passion fruit pavlova, cherry cheesecake tart, fudge brownie sundae with coffee ice cream and caramel sauce.

The Manor, (update on 2/15/2014: Saturday & Sunday tables available), $79.00, West Orange, Friday, February 14: The manor is featuring a four course dinner with foie gras, oysters, an illuminated intermezzo with a rose’ champagne sorbet, filet mignon with lobster tail, striped bass and lamb and desserts. The restaurant is also running their popular lobster dinner buffet for Valentine’s Day for $69.95.

Concert @ Adrinka House, update on 2/15/3014, Limited Tickets still available, $25.00, Montclair, Friday, February 14: Single ladies, single men & happy couples are all welcome. Enjoy some serious R&B crooning and an all around funky good time with one of our Adrinka House family singing his songs plus some classics you will love. This year they are offering 3 different seatings for Valentine’s Day, a 3 course dinner at 6:00 p.m. for $65.00, a 4 course dinner at 7:30 p.m. for $80.00 and 5 course dinner at 9:30 p.m. for $85.00. All dinners include a champagne cocktail. Highlights of the dinners include: beef short ribs, oysters Rockefeller, Cornish game hen, braised beef ravioli, asparagus tempura and banana bread pudding.

Restaurant Lorena’s Dinner, (updated 2/15/2014: Saturday is booked, reservations available for Sunday), $95.00, Maplewood: Lorena’s is a tiny restaurant with a loyal following. Chef Humberto Campos is well known for his impeccable meals prepared with great attention to detail. Think of a Parisian bistro with 36 seats, that’s Lorena’s. For St. Valentine’s Day they are featuring a 3 course dinner with such treats as oysters in Champagne mignonette, crab crepe with mushrooms and beure blanc, Scottish salmon with braised red cabbage, Maine lobster, Atlantic skate wing with fennel, honey glazed duck breast with lentils, braised short rib with truffled baby vegetables, a dessert tasting and petit fours.

Hudson County Valentine’s Day

Amanda’s Valentine’s Dinner, (update on 2/15/2014: reservations available tonight & Sunday), $65.00, Hoboken: Amanda’s is serving a 3 course dinner. The later dinner highlights include: asparagus leek soup with crab, grilled vegetable and roasted tomato risotto, seared salmon with Beluga lentils, lemon herb roasted chicken, filet mignon, chocolate covered strawberries and cream and key lime pie with fresh Chantilly. The regular menu is available on Saturday and Sunday and there are tables available both nights.

Casa Dante Dinner, update on 2/15/2014: Open tables & reservations, $59.00, Jersey City, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, February 14, 15, 16: Casa is serving an la carte menu and a prix fixe dinner for $59.00. Highlights from the special prix fixe dinner include: a jumbo shrimp cocktail, eggplant rollatini, a baby arugula and strawberry salad, grilled filet mignon, shrimp lobster ravioli, lemon sole Francese, flourless chocolate cake and lemon moose cake.

Spirit Dinner Cruise, (update 2/15/2014: reservations available), $99.00, Weehawken, Friday & Saturday, February 14 & 15: Spirit is offering a 3 hour dinner cruise that includes a tour of New Jersey, New York and the Hudson River, an elegant buffet, a DJ, dancing and a stroll on the deck under the stars on Friday and Saturday for $99.90 per person.
