On February 2, we’re pinning all our hopes on a furry little rodent. Hopefully Punxsutawney Phil will predict an early spring this year. But no matter if he sees his shadow or not, you can still celebrate Groundhog Day with your troop at any of the family-friendly New Jersey events listed below. Details: During February 1-10, kids ages 3-12 can drop in anytime to play the fun-filled Scavenger Hunt: Groundhog Edition. If you find all the groundhogs, you win a small prize!

Details: Sing songs celebrating the holiday and get crafty by making a fluffy groundhog to take home. Registration is required for this event.

Museum of Early Trades and Crafts

Museum of Early Trades and CraftsWhere: 9 Main Street, Madison

Price: $5 per child
Details: Families are invited to METC’s annual Groundhog Prediction Party. Kids ages 3-6 will learn about Groundhog Day, make special crafts and even meet James the Groundhog Puppet! Advance registration is required.

Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association

Details: Children ages 3-5 learn all about groundhogs and whether they can really predict the weather! Kids will explore the outdoors, hear stories and do crafts. Parents must accompany children younger than 4 and registration is required.

Details: Head to the zoo to see if Turtle Back’s own Essex Ed will see his shadow on Groundhog Day! After the special press conference at 11:00 am, you can spend the rest of the day enjoying all the zoo has to offer.
