Thursday, July 4th, 2013: Congress Hall in Cape May is having an old fashioned picnic for the 4th of July. The event features 3 legged races, potato sack races, face painting, balloon twisting and a great BBQ.

Congress Hall Grand Lawn is the place to be for the ultimate 4th of July celebration. Activities go on all day from 4pm-9pm. Join us for carnival games, face painting, balloon twisting, family lawn games and more. Chime in with our Congress Hall Festival Choir’s patriotic sing-a-long along with live music on the veranda.

Join us for dinner with our famous family picnic or Lobster Bake. Picnic begins at 5:00 p.m. Tickets cost $12 and include all of your barbecue favorites and All-American apple pie for dessert! Bring your chairs and set up right on the lawn. If you prefer a seated event, try our Lobster Bake which features a stationed affair including Maine lobster, clams, sirloin steak, and much more. Long Branch: Oceanfest, Festival & Fireworks

Thursday, July 4, 2013 This annual Fourth of July tradition is a free, family oriented festival, which attracts both local residents and visitors from throughout the region. The event takes place along a half mile stretch of the oceanfront promenade between Seven Presidents Park and the Ocean Place Resort and Spa. Activities will include master sand sculpting exhibits on the beach, strolling entertainers, live music of every imaginable type, food vendors, craft vendors and lots of activities for children. The fun-filled daytime activities offer a great prelude to a spectacular fireworks display. You might want to consider staying at the marvelous modern Bungalow Hotel that’s a few steps away from the festivities. We were there this past month and it is a great destination! Also, be sure and grab a goodie at Cake Bake & Roll on the corner.

Union Beach: 2013 Fireworks

Wednesday, July 3, 2013 The Union Beach Fireworks this year have quite a story behind them. The town was devastated in Hurricane Sandy and most likely would not have had the money or energy to put on a fireworks display this year, but one its residents entered a contest for a free community fireworks display and he won!

  • 6:30 Music by the band “After the Reign”
  • 7:45 Ceremony
  • 8:10 Concert by Grammy winners “The Mavericks”

Plumsted Township: Fireworks & Concert

Saturday, July 6, 2013 Plumstead Township and the New Egypt Elks Lodge will present their 13th annual Rockin’ Fireworks Concert at the New Egypt Athletic Fields at 121 Evergreen Road. The township is still getting the event organized and there is not any new information for this year as of June 14, 2013. We will get you an update as soon as we have more information. Here are the specifics from last year’s event: The celebration begins at 2:00 in the afternoon and the fireworks go off at dusk. This Event will feature professional entertainment, artists and creative people from near and far, as well as food, beverages, games and other attractions in an open country setting. There will be multiple bands playing all day, carnival rides, crafts and food vendors. For more information you can call Al Hutchins at 609-758-3005. This was one of the events that I attended last year and it is one of my favorites. There are acres and acres of open land around the athletic fields. There’s lots of room for the kids to run and play and a lot for the whole family to see and do.

For more information see the Elks Lodge site here.
