Kick off the seasonal opening of the Red Mill with live music this spring. Visitors to the Red Mill Museum Village will enjoy live acoustic performances at the Mill on select Sundays ($8/Adults, $6/Seniors (65 and over) Active Duty Military and Veterans, $5/Children (ages 6-12), FREE for members and children under 6). The next acoustic session will be held on Sunday, April 1 from 1:00-3:00 PM and introduce the heartfelt sounds of Barbara Reese.

Barbara Reese is a self-taught guitarist and songstress who was a featured solo performer at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA in August 2011. She has also played at the Terra Cafe, Hookah Terra Cafe, Starbucks, Godfrey Daniels, Listen live Music and Sarah Street Grill. Her guitar is a handmade acoustic dreadnought style by Michael Jacobson-Hardy. Though she loves all types of music, she plays folk, pop and jazz in her performances. Barbara began experimenting with open tunings when she learned that musicians like Joni Mitchell use open tunings. The open tunings sound so unusual to her that she now creates open tunings for songs written in standard tuning. She writes her own songs, hoping that her poetic words sung with the heart and guitar will create vivid, if not dreamlike, images for the listener. She is currently performing a Joni Mitchell tribute venue/concert tour.

The Red Mill Museum Village is a private, non-profit museum. Our mission is to preserve, maintain, and present to the public the social, agricultural, and industrial heritage of Hunterdon and its surrounding area. Our ten acre site houses 12 historic buildings (including a Grist Mill, the Mulligan Quarry buildings, and several relocated historic structures) in which we display permanent and changing exhibits showcasing our collection of agricultural, industrial and domestic artifacts. The Museum hosts a broad calendar of public programming including lectures, workshops, living history reenactments and other special events throughout the year.

Spring is well on the way, regardless of what the calendar says. Along with warmer weather, blooming flowers, and beautiful afternoons at the park, comes a bevy of Spring Celebrations. New Jersey has a wide variety of festivals and there’s something for everyone and every taste.

Little ones will love the Bunny Lunch and Craft Show hosted by the West Milford Fire Department. For seven dollars a person, you get lunch, the kids can do a craft, take a photo with the Easter Bunny, and even get a surprise. After you have your lunch and meeting with the bunny, have fun browsing local arts and crafts. The Bunny Lunch will be held March 25, at Apshawa Fire Department, 666 Macopin Road, West Milford, NJ 07480 from 12 noon until 4 pm.

On March 24th, the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) will hold lessons teaching the ancient art of Ukrainian egg decorating called “Pysanky”. This method requires eggs to be decorated using a wax-resist (batik) method, not dyes. Participants will get a hands-on experience using the unique techniques needed to create these colorful masterpieces. This is a wonderful activity for the whole family, ages 8 and up, and is a fun and different twist on the basic Easter Egg. Not only an artistic endeavor, but also full of cultural awareness and springtime fun. Pre-registration is required call 973-377-2982, extension 14. The Museum is located at 9 Main Street in Madison, New Jersey. (NJ Route 124 at Green Village Road). Find out more about the museum here.

On April 1st, you can stop by Seaside Heights for the Palm Sunday Egg Hunt. Beginning at 1:00 p.m, you will be a part of a Boardwalk and beach full of children searching for 15,000 pastel eggs filled with prizes from Seaside Heights merchants. An Easter Egg Hunt is a time honored tradition that your family will enjoy participating in before the holiday. Age groups meet at the following locations: 0-2 year olds at Hancock Avenue, 3-4 year olds at Blaine Avenue, 5-6 year olds at Sumner Avenue, 7-8 year olds at Hamilton Avenue and 9-10 year olds at Lincoln Avenue. The special needs group will meet at Kearney Avenue.

April 7th begins Essex County’s Cherry Blossom Festival, located at Branch Brook Park in Newark. Running April 7-22, 2012, the festival features a bike race, a children’s fun run, a race for the disabled, the 10k cherry blossom run, a photography workshop, a free lecture series and the daylong Bloomfest celebration. The star of the show will be the Japanese cherry blossoms, which line the paths and streets, and fill the park. There are more than 4000 cherry blossom trees at Branch Brook, including flowering Yoshino, Higan and Fuji cherries whose blooms range in color from pink to white in color and add about two weeks to the bloom season. More information can be found at the Branch Brook Park website.

Saturday, April 21st, Liberty State Park in Jersey City will host an Earth Day event. One of the largest Earth Day celebrations in NJ, you will find over 100 vendors, and plenty of amusement and activities for the whole family. This is a day to inspire and create awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s and the environment. Help instill in your children an attitude of “going green” and caring about the Earth, and have fun doing it. You celebrate this event all day long at Liberty State Park, 299 Morris Pesin Drive, Jersey City.

Saturday, April 28th, you can enjoy another take on Earth Day, with a trip to a local farm for some back-to-nature fun. Featuring hay rides, music, local food, drum circles, and even a movie screening of “Koyaanisqatsi”, this farm intends to inspire visitors to live green and sustainably year round. Feel free to bring the family dog as well the farm is pet friendly. Learn to compost from a worm, and visit the Re-Use Market an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious flea market that benefits America’s Grow-a-Row, a NJ non-profit that helps feed those in need. Perfect Christmas Tree Farm is active in bridging education, the environment and the local community. The farm is located at 999 US 22, Phillipsburg NJ, just 2.5 miles from exit 3 off I-78. You can get more info on the Farm website.

Nothing says Spring in Jersey like Shad Fest in Lambertville. April 28th and 29th, the city will host the 31st Annual Shad Festival, celebrating local community, the arts, and of course – the Shad fish. The Shad Festival, which begun as a local art show, has blossomed into a nationally recognized and award-winning festivity that families everywhere flock to. Shad Fest will feature area artists, crafts, food, varieties of family entertainment, and the best part is that it also serves local non-profit organizations, helping them raise funds for day-to-day operations. Help others in the local community while eating shad chowder or fried Oreos, listening to live bands, shopping for jewelry, ceramics, furniture, apparel, accessories, home décor and more, and make sure you look for the old-fashioned, home-made sodas and sarsaparillas. More information can be found at the Lambertville Chamber website.

Perfect Christmas Tree Farm is hosting a party to celebrate Earth Day. The celebration will take place on Saturday, April 28, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Activities will include a wide range of activities for the whole family. Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural resources. Get outside, take a hayride and enjoy the world. Commit to creating and preserving clean air, soil and water in the community. This event is for children, parents, teachers and people of all generations. Come together and be entertained, educated and encouraged. Free hayrides happen all day. Come with a friend, including a four-legged one. We are a dog-friendly farm.

Highlights of the day include:

• Hayrides, House Tours, ‘Drum Circle,’ Music and Local Food
• Red Wiggler Worm & Composting Workshop
• Screening the movie “Koyaanisqatsi”
• Arts & Crafts for Children
• Wildflower Seed Balls
• REC Solar Exhibit
• Re-Use Market

Re-Use Market

The Re-Use Market is an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious flea market. It will begin at 9 AM. Vendors and Exhibitors are wanted for the market. Limited spaces are available. The market benefits America’s Grow-a-Row, an awe inspiring NJ non-profit that has, so far, grown and gleaned 1.4 million pounds of fresh food for food banks to feed those in need.

Red Wiggler Worm & Composting Workshop

Learn from a worm. Love them or hate them, children and adults learn about soil composition and gain respect for even the tiniest creatures. You may not pronounce Eisenia fetida correctly, but you won’t forget that they make the earth fertile. Worms eat your garbage and produce nutrients for the soil. We’ll be making indoor worm bins and learning about composting in a free workshop from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Perfect Christmas Tree Farm is active in bridging education, the environment and the local community. The farm is located at 999 US 22, Phillipsburg NJ, just 2.5 miles from exit 3 off I-78.

Is your financial thermostat set for success, mediocrity or failure?

The answer is simple – look at your results!

If your finances are not where you’d like them to be, a lack of money is not the problem; it is merely a symptom of the problem.

If you believe that the next job opportunity, genius business idea or economic shift will improve your financial status, finally bringing you the success you deserve – you’re kidding yourself. No outside influence or opportunity will make or sustain your success.

Isn’t it time to finally learn what’s holding you back?

The Millionaire Mind Intensive, created by T. Harv Eker, is a revolutionary 3-day seminar which will teach you the secret that rich people know: it’s not skill, luck, or education that keeps the rich getting richer while you’re in the same situation year after year. It’s conditioning..

The Millionaire Mind Intensive (“MMI”) doesn’t just teach you about your how you’re conditioned, as seen in your “Money Blueprint”, but it actually changes it – right there at the seminar. You’ll walk away with a new blueprint, and the mindset you need to achieve massive wealth.

Here’s just a part of what you’ll learn:
• The wealth creation & maintenance strategies of the wealthy
• How to stop the blame game and take control of your financial future
• How to quadruple your speed to financial freedom
• The underlying cause of almost all financial problems
• 12 ways to earn passive income so you can make money while you sleep
