Ocean City has moved their fireworks to Saturday, July 5th because of the rains expected from the passing of Hurricane Arthur. Ocean City has several days of celebrations planned for the week of the 4th of July. There are orchestral concerts, market days a VFW benefit concert, a kite flying competition, two bike parades and a fireworks show planned for the holiday. To start off the celebration The Ocean City Pops Orchestra will perform a “POPS Goes All American!” Concert on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 8:00 at the Ocean City Music Pier. The concert features Joseph Mohan playing a Gershwin medley, baritone Neil Nelson singing Gershwin, and the POPS playing patriotic hits and Sousa. Admission is $10.00 to $15.00 per person. On Thursday morning, July 3, 2014, Market Days features entertainment, face painting and balloon sculptors. Later the VFW Benefit Concert will feature a British Invasion Tribute. The band performs a wide array of British and American music from the 1960’s. Show time is 7:00 p.m. at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. Tickets are $20.00 per person. The 4th of July starts with a bike parade in town at 10:00 a.m. Later on the 6th there’s a kite flying competition at 7:00 p.m. and an incredible fireworks display on the Ocean City Boardwalk at 9:30 p.m. See the O.C. site for more info and updates.
