Family Fun Fest

July 4 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

| Free

The 4th of July is the community’s busiest day. Later in the afternoon there’s a July 4th Boat Parade that starts at the Avalon Point Marina. At 6:00 p.m. the recreation department sponsors a Family Fun Fest between at the 30th Street beach next to the community hall with games and activities. The festival runs until 9:00.

Their biggest July 4th event is their concert with the Bay-Atlantic Symphony and fireworks. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at the community hall. The symphony is beginning their seventh summer of performances with a program they call Lincoln and Liberty. The program will be conducted by Music Director Jed Gaylin and will feature a selection of patriotic favorites. Retired Brigadier General Jeffrey Pierson and Mayor Martin Pagliughi will also participate in the program. The program is free and no tickets are needed. Seating is handled on a first come – first served basis. When the concert winds down the fireworks begin. The pyrotechnic show is set to patriotic music provided by local radio station WCZT, 98.7 FM. Avalon claims that this is biggest fireworks show in southern Jersey. {I think it is stated that way because it is not bigger than Atlantic City’s which is seen as being a Southern Jersey Coast show.]

The celebration ends with a concert at Veteran’s Plaza on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The concert features a local military band. The event will be moved to the Avalon Community Hall in the event of rain.
